Deep House VSTs anyone?
Does anybody know any VSTs that emulate that typical deep house warm pad?
I've tried using samples but the timestretching doesn't work too well imo.
Operator and other FM synths just sound too metallic to make that kind of sound.
btw, is there or is there not a sampler that uses pitching only instead of timestretching? I hate not being able to play high pitched samples because of that.
Thanks in advance.
aren't deep house pads typically just rhodes? if not try a synth that has PWM waves. also a sample would help us
circle synth and any rhodes client will do you fine
there really isn't a deep house vst, i like to think deep house is more percussion and attitude/vibe than it is emulating a certain sound
I'd think it's more about the chords getting used than any other element. Barring a supersaw and whatnot, if you use the right chords, it'll sound like solid deep house.
Here are some samples

Deep House sounds...it starts with how you EQ your sounds, which means you can create them with many synths but a good start would be NI's Pro 53 which emulates the Prophet 5. NI FM7/FM8. Korg's Legacy Collection.

both tracks are awesome
and yes, it's basically the chord being played with some kind of PWM/Pulse/Square wave.

cutoff is pretty low... try playing a chord that blends c2/c3(with inversions where necessary)

| Originally posted by ponsshin I think you're right but there are inevitably common sounds within almost all deep house tracks. But like you said, percussion and vibe make it all happen. Acoustic sounds and organic stuff are essential though. Ok but where do I start? LP, HP (guess not), BP, Notch? |
a good rhodes vst is lounge lizard, you can get a lot more sounds than your typical rhodes out of that synth
for deep house stabs try inverting minor and minor 7th chords, that's as far as my understanding goes though. i wish i was a jazz-trained pianist
Likewise. ><
Knowing what chords will get the right effect is a major help in stuff like deep house.
