Beatport mp3 file problems?

Okay...I use DSS DJ 5.0, and for some reason it keeps giving me this "file is damaged" error recently for some tracks I've bought off of Beatport. It's happening for quite a few files and it's really weird since I've never encountered this problem before. The files play fine on Windows Media Player.

Does anyone know what's going on? I know this is a basic program, but it's all I got at the moment!

Don't know about your specific problem, but I do know a possible solution.

Get hold of a WAV/MP3 converter, convert the track to WAV, try that if th software supports WAV, if not convert it BACK into MP3 then try it, that should do the trick. If not, then fuck knows.

Thanks for the tip. I have an MP3 splitter so i cut off like the first second of each track and that is working, but I just find it incredibly weird. This strategy is working for every track except for the new Gel Abril track that got released just yesturday. I'd rather NOT convert files to wav cuz of the space requirements

You mean the new Shlomi Aber track, right?

What Operating system are you using? Are you positive the tracks were saved with the correct file extensions on them?

Meaning you could have the track saved without the .mp3 extension on the end.

Example:
[ARTIST] - [TITLE] vs. [ARTIST] - [TITLE].mp3

If that makes any sense.

If you're on Windows Vista, usually the OS is smart enough to figure out what type of file it is, hence why WMP would be able to play the tracks. But a third party software might need the file extension to figure out if it's a file that it can read.

Hope that helps you.

Yes sorry i mean the new Shlomi Aber track, Lighter than Seawater. I'm using Windows XP and yeah the files do have the .mp3 file extension on it. I'm afraid to download tracks off Beatport now but maybe i'll try again tomorrow.

Kinda sux i can't mix in Lighter than Seawater...it's a pretty rocking track!

actually that song by Piemont nevermind.

I'm still having issues with files being downloaded. Some of them if I split them start working but some won't even load up in my splitting program and just crashes it. Another splitting program does not recognize the file. I'm noticing this a lot with new tracks that have been releaseed in the past two weeks, and just wondering what the fuck is going on. I'm actually legitimatley paying for these songs and they dont' even work!!

Hmmmmmmmm, why do i think it might be the hidden info in an mp3 header with code to track your movements.

When using the mp3 splitter doesn't work its because the header isn't entirely being replaced - you may need a program you can start a new file from scratch and just paste the audio into that.
I used to use DSSDJ a long time ago (I was even made into a mod on the forums because I was often more helpful than any of the myxoft staff) and to be honest, I think DSSDJ is a piece of crap and not worth wasting your time on.

How do I paste the audio into said program, and what program can I use? I notice these mp3 file problmes occuring since Beatport got revamped but any old file early in Jan works out perfectly.
