Looking for restaurant recommendations

Hi,

I am looking to take my gf out to some nice, quiet, intimate place for dinner in Montreal. I failed to find any webpages that had recommendations or reviews, so I thought I would try here.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

budget?

Say around $150 for two people. I saw some very reputable restaurants, but that were way above that range. Save that for another day lol

Simplchic restaurant is a nice place to go. Around 20-25 places, and it fit exactly your budget.

i've eaten there since i was small and it's great every time. the service isn't anything to write home about, but it certainly wasn't terrible.

it's a great spot with very good, old fashioned, authentic italian food.

Posted by elFreak on Jan-21-2009 19:14:

are you italian

the food wasnt horrible at all, but to wait an hour for anti pasto is silly especially since it was not even full.

If you can stomach sushi, try Odaki on 1836 rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, sushi on a conveyer belt! We did our 1 year there so it's fancy enough for impressing the better half.

All you can eat, $100 for two, including bottle of wine and tip. We should have a welcome to Montreal sticky again

nothing says romance like conveyer belts

I had a 5 service dinner for 2 with a nice bottle of wine for only 145$ including tip... would of paid double for same night we had... though prices on the menu are really low... impressive for the quality you get.

Decor is quite simple, small bistro 20-30 peeps, but what you have in your plate is to die for, presentation was impeccable, Jonathan does an amazing job, was REALLY impressed.

Thanks a lot Jonathan for this terrific experience !!!

Will be back shortly for sure

super sexy lounge atmosphere (Dj Deep Spelle, ironic name), but i wouldnt say its whisper quiet

been there a few times and the max i've paid was 200$ (with a few drinks+tip) for 2

it's kind of far away but hey ... your gf will melt on you.. too easy.. u know quetaine ?

Thank for the good words Francis, I'm glad you had a good time with your girlfriend

But take note that what you got for the 3 starters are not on the regular menu bro. I just made something to have fun, going out of routine work

You're welcome when ever you want

Update: We made reservations at peche, but it flooded (seriously), and we ended up at Restaurant Julien, off rue Union. In any case, the place was not overly packed, and we got a very nice window seat.

The restaurant is well lit with soft lighting, very clean and intimate, due to its size, but not exactly a very romantic setting. However, it is certaily a very nice place to dine.

The service was impeccable, and the waiting staff went out of their way to ensure I understood everything, since I made it a point with them to speak only French with me. They were all very amiable, friendly, courteous and professional.

The food was great. Nothing really extraordinary, nor inventive, but fairly good quality. We ended up ordering from their 'table d'hote' menu, so with appetizers, entre, bottle of wine (fairly limited wine list), and a generous tip, it was a pretty affordable evening.

Too bad this forum does not have a restaurant/visitor listing. I am continually impressed with the choice of restaurants in Montreal, and fully intend to take advantage in the upcomming times.
