Long time no TA

I haven't been to this forum in donkey's years! I can't believe I have a password that still works.

I've been getting back into trance and EDM in general after picking up my guitar again, listening to my original favorite music: 80s metal in the last couple years. Basically catching up on the scene through a lot of podcasts and my friend Kris (Djs in TO under alias Mr. Morton) has been keeping me in the loop with some of his mixes. Of course, there's the job, getting married, buying a house, and having a baby getting in the way of clubbing.

It's cool to see some of the old names on these boards.

Later,

Andrew

Yeah, he just turned a year old on the 19th. Ate birthday cake like there was no tomorrow and he got really hyper. Check out the video of him dancing to Danny Howells on my facebook.

I don't care what anyone says. I still listen to trance, and it will always remain at the top of my favorite styles of EDM. Been listening to some techno like speedy J and Adam Beyer and I love the deep house among other types of house, but I miss the dynamics and emotion of trance. I love psy trance but even that starts to become a boring one dimensional sound after a set or two. Admittedly the same formula -- intro, breakdown, release, outro -- is getting a little stale as the same pattern for every trance track since it became popular in the 90s, but that's what trance IS. Complaining about that is like complaining about blues because it's always so "bluesy" or heavy metal for always being so "heavy" or complaining that techno lacks melody and emotion.

One thing I'd like to learn more about is breaks. LKD, what are some producers/djs I should check out?

Do you still stay up all night hammering out arguments and diatribes about everything? Do I dare browse through any of the political threads?

Unless you've been feeling too mellow lately and need something to get irritated about, I wouldn't open up any of the political threads here. They're the same as they were a few years ago.
