New Beatport Website Launched

There was a post about this some while back but I can't find it. What do you guys think of it? Haven't found any dramatic changes yet.

It's not working for me, I tried refreshing my browser 3 times already.

That's just the other sense they added, "pissed off at a broken website".

Should be up and running by now, if anyone is still having issues try posting at this Beaportal article. They had the development team up and working on some bugs until like 1am. Letting your users test your software launch is genius, saves on QA cost. That's what we do at Fox

Its also free advertising for Beatport. Casual users would not know the new site is up if people weren't complaining about the new site. So it actually works to Beatport's benefit that there are problems early on, because people are talking it up on forums and getting more people to visit the site. In other words bad publicity is good publicity.

Its working for me at the moment, it wasn't last night.

why are the prices in pounds?

Ah, now it all makes sense.

They dramatically improved the audio quality of their samples a few weeks ago. Listening to their sample always drove me nuts. Bought a few tracks that sounded one way (through the compressinon) that I've gone to buy and it just didn't sound the same. Not saying it sounded bad, but it was different and it drove me nuts.

BTW, I've encountered many sites that don't like Flash 10 Player. But usually older sites that do Flash Player version calls and think Flash 10 is some whacko!

It looks a bit unnecessarily complicated compared to the last interface...and a bit buggy too. Suppose they'll sort all that out in the days to come.

1. slow as fuck (in the way its designed; not in terms of internet/response time)
2. crashed my browser the second time I used it. It also crashed my airport background process (or something, I didn't write the exact error down)
3. You cant organize your cart in any way. (i.e. by genre)
4. Holding is finally here, although slow as shit. (see above. Click, wait 5 seconds, continue on)
5. You cant organize your cart in any way. (i.e. by price)
6. Higher quality streams are nice.
7. You cant organize your cart in any way. (i.e. by artist, if you haven't noticed this upset me the most)
