The new Beatport's a load of****

I'm sure I won't be the only one to want to have a bit of a rant about it, so lets keep all gripes contained in this thread.

My gripe:
The player doesn't work properly, keeps skipping to the end, won't stop when you tell it to, etc. Never had that problem with the old one.

Come on, it's not that hard to write a music player that works in Flash - I've done it myself in the past... if I can do it then their full-time highly paid web people should be able to.

Whatever I'm sure this is not the first time you were regularly visiting a site that had undergone a major overhaul. I completely agree that the company should have tested this system more before releasing it but I'm sure that the kinks will be ironed out soon. For example yesterday I was a little upset because the back/forward function wasn't working but today it is.

Should have spent more time working on things instead of writing the gay ass promo newsletters everyone was emailed spreading the word of the launch, lol.

Give it some time. No matter how much a project is beta-tested, live usage always reveals something new.

Seems fine to me......

You guys gotta realize that there is only so much in-house testing a company can do. There is NO way to predict what will happen when released to millions of different machines/users. This is with ALL software. Show me any piece of software that had a totally bug free release to the public. This is why patches/updates/service packs exist.

Meh. It worked fine for me. And even if it didn't, I'm not going to start lambasting a site for a few technical bugs that will presumably get worked out in the near future.

Just send them an email and be done with it.

Seems to be working fine for me, but i do not like it that much.

no problems here

just some getting used to, i don't like the new search for some reason. i like how they removed the need to input a name with at least 3 letters though

Had many major version changes. All of which had quirks.

Posted by Seppuku on Jan-23-2009 18:18:

Glad they fixed the back/forward.

Not really having any problems anymore, although it is noticably slower than the older version. Just gonna take some time to get used to.

Posted by enydo on Jan-23-2009 18:48:

I think it's fine, haven't really had any issues yet.

Posted by chesco on Jan-23-2009 22:58:

I was trying to use yesterday and it seemed unbearably slow, much better today altho still getting time out messages now and again.

All in tho, the new features look like a huge improvement.

Yeah that fucked me off. Thought the only time it ever caused issues was searching for BT.

I am sure they will fix the bugs soon and it will be running great!

I can't get the new beatport website to work for love nor money! The damn thing sucks arse, I cant even use the search engine properly! I click and nothing comes up....no menus work either.

I've got Firefox and latest Adobe Flash Player installed but no cigar....

Works fine for me, no issues. You guys having issues need to check you're own machines.

Same here with Firefox and Beatport. This is a longstanding bug between Firefox and Adobe Flash though. The previous version of Beatport worked well here, but the new one doesn't.
I've had a lot of other Flash websites crap out on me before in combination with Firefox.

On the other hand, while browsing the new Beatport in Safari and then go to my crate and try to look at the releases, only half of them show up.

Posted by downpat on Jan-31-2009 20:02:

Works great for me : ) , id rather hear it jump to the end than just not move and make you wonder if something froze. Flash isnt too hard, but maintaining a web backbone that can handle the number of people that use it globally is hard work.

Works great for me in IE.

Can't look up artists or my crate in Firefox.

Posted by DJSolo on Feb-08-2009 07:42:

The new site wasn't working in Firefox for me either but I figured out what was causing the problem. It was the Adblock Plus plugin I am using. All I had to do was add beatport to the whitelist and now the site functions fine.
