iPhone vs G1..... Which one should I get?
iPhone vs G1?
What should I get?
My girlfriend's phone broke and mine keeps crashing. We decided to get new ones. Both plans are very similar if we get the family plan for two phones. Our contracts are up with T-Mobile, so we can go with either one.
iPhone:
2100 Family Plan Minutes
Rollover Mins
GPS
1/8" Headphone Adapter
$199 Month
8GB
G1:
Unlimited Mins
Proprietary Headphone Adapter
NO GPS!!!
$199 Month
1 GB (Expandable to 8GB - more $$)
They both have:
Unlimited Texts
3G Speed
Mobile to Mobile
Free Nights & Weekends
stay away from the iPhone!!! after switching from the nokia N95, OMG, i totally hate it. it has very primitive phone functions.
i'm waiting for Nokia to release they're touchscreen maybe by 2nd half of the year.
both are nice but i dislike both companies and their plans.
cant beat sprint sero w/ unlimited everything for $35/month! now if they can only get an android phone...

Only prop with G1 is that it is kinda bulky. And texting w/ the iphone is rather annoying...missing all the letters.

Don't know about those 2...but I can tell you not to get the Blackberry Storm. Total piece of shit. Took mine all of 2 weeks to not really work at all. I found out they have over a 48% return rate
Don't get the apple phone. It sucks...
Lacks basic MMS support.
Copy Paste, No Flash in its browser (G1 OS will have flash)

I have the G1 and its perfect. Even better if you have a google account and use gmail, etc.
3G is satisfactory imo, it connects slightly better than my home Wi-Fi.
The G1 does have GPS. I use all the time to view traffic (in real time with google maps).
And the 8GB memory cards that are out now are obviously going to expand soon.
I am in the phone business and use the Iphone 3g myself and the iphone is a muchh better phone than the G1.. This is a no brainer!!

Jesse,
I don't think you can go wrong with either or, I think they're both great phones.
Personally, I have the Google G1 phone from day 1 and I absolutely LOVE it. The other thing you might want to ask yourself is that do you do a lot of texting? I'm one of those who prefer texting people rather than calling, and the keyboard on the G1 was the selling point for me. I just don't like virtual keyboard. The keyboard on the G1, however, is kinda hard to see during the daytime, you have to tilt it a certain way to see it clearly, but once you get used to it's not that bad since you have most of the buttons memorized.
Regarding some other things that have been pointed out:
The Google G1 does have GPS.
I agree that the Blackberry Storm is a p.o.s, don't get it. I love a blackberry but I'd rather go with the Curve/Bold.
Google G1 does not support flash at this point. I've been waiting a long time but I don't think a concrete date/time has ever been mentioned as to when Adobe will make an Android-based flash program. But when that happens that would be awesome, hello youporn, xtube, etc...

I do agree that the G1 phone isn't as stylish as the iphone. However, if you get the WHITE version. It actually doesn't look that bad. I just went out today and got a white one for my sister. It's been such a popular color that it's been sold out everywhere during Xmas.
Hope that helps.
get the iphone. i honestly think im ever going to have anything else. It has everything and it's lightweight and compact. i played around with my friends' g1's and they're too bulky for me and too complicated for no reason. they don't have the simplicity of the iphone imo.

iPhone.
I have been through so many phones, and i ended up with a 3G. Its a phone that once i started using, i couldnt let go. I was stuck using my backup LG VU for 2 weeks and i hated it.
Also, remember google keeps statistics one EVERYTHING and sells it. You think they are not monitoring the G1 users?
