2009 NHL All-Star Weekend!!!
Anyone else excited for this?
double excited
ps ur momma wears goalie skates
nice try lol
I refuse to watch this pathetic excuse for an exhibition of hockey. I would rather watch a collection of greatest broomball goals.
The all-star game is alright but I prefer the skills challenge. Anyone going to Montreal for this?
The skills competition is the only portion of the all star weekend that is even half decent...and even that is a stretch....I would say the only event of any interest to me is the hardest shot.
The NHL has made this a complete joke with their young stars game and now the trick shot shootout
The all star game means nothing and they should take a page out of the MLB and have the winning division get home ice advantage in the stanley cup final. They should also hold the all star game a week before the season begins and the players are based on the previous season stats...not idiot fans. If they want to showcase NHL talent to europe and the states then do it at a time when the players are not as concerned about stubbing their big toe or needing a couple days off because they played 40 hockey games.
WOW One of the few things we agree on.

January 24th - Skills Challenge
January 25th - All-Star Game
Eastern Conference
Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh Penguins) sucks (overrated) --> not playing
Evgeni Malkin (Pittsburgh Penguins)
Alexei Kovalev (Montreal Canadiens) hes one of the few healthy Habs left so I hope he stays that way. Since Saku Koivu got injured, Kovalev has been acting as captain.
Andrei Markov (Montreal Canadiens)
Mike Komisarek (Montreal Canadiens)
Carey Price (Montreal Canadiens) hes been out a while with injury so Im hoping he doesnt play if he doesnt feel healthy enough.
The All-Star Game is great but not worth messing up your chances of helping your team make the playoffs.
Western Conference
Patrick Kane (Chicago Blackhawks) hes doing great in his second season (16 goals, 41 points in 35 games!) in the NHL and Im really looking forward to seeing him in action!
Jonathan Toews (Chicago Blackhawks) again, I cant wait to see him and Kane play together since there arent many Chicago games broadcast in my area.
Ryan Getzlaf (Anaheim Ducks)
Brian Campbell (Chicago Blackhawks)
Scott Niedermayer (Anaheim Ducks) can you believe this? Almost retires and then ends up in the starting lineup of the All-Star Game!
Jean-Sebastien Giguere (Anaheim Ducks) good choice, I think. Should be interesting to see him face off against Price.

There's rock concerts outside and igloofest happening.
Huge tent is setup for the event with stuff to do and drink inside.
boooooooring.
I'm going to the Skills Contest and Young Stars game. Looking forward to it.
The All-Star Game itself is going to suck, like it has for the past 20 years, no doubt about that. No intensity, no hitting, no passion, not worth it. BORRRRINGGGGG
The 5-4 game that year in Boston was a seriously good game. The one where Ray Borque scored the winner on the backhand in the dying minutes if I remember correctly.
I'll be flippin back & forth between the skills comp & the Red Bull Crashed Ice thing on TSN tonight. So damn funny/crazy.

Last year's all-star weekend was s joke. I'm only excited for this year's cause I think they might do a better job.
Oh and the trick shot last year was fucking ridiculous. Most of the guys didn't know what they were doing and looked like idiots. But since it was their first time, I'm assuuming they'll do a better job this year.
NHL All-Star 2008:
It makes sense that the trick shots will suck. The BEST players have had those types of hot dog attempts beat out of them over the years because they're generally low-percentage shots. If you want to see the sparkle, you gotta watch amateurs go at it.
Here's a vid of one of my cousin's shots, he plays in a euro league now, I think in Finland.

Copy and paste the embedded link into ur reply.
The breakaway challenge was terrible IMO.
