A 20-year-old man is in hospital after a shooting inside a nightclub in the Queen St. W. and Spadina Ave. area this morning

The victim suffered gunshot wounds to his left arm and thigh inside the Tonic Nightclub around 3 a.m., police say.

A second victim, a 21-year-old woman, was found on premises suffering minor injuries after flying shrapnel grazed the side of her face. She was treated on scene by emergency personnel.

Police shut down the club and started canvassing the area, looking for witnesses and suspects.

The male victim was taken to St. Michael's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Even if they do have metal detectors, it's not hard to sidestep security.

Often regulars and friends of security/promoters get to skip the indignity of a search, or get let in through another exit.

How do you think (most of) the drugs make it in?

I was walking by there last night as well. Apparently, lots of people, we just don't see them because the lineup is always hidden behind that other building. Last night at midnight, there was a huge line waiting to get in.

I love how they call it "Fashion Fridays" and the crowd looks like a bunch of townie frat boys and ho-bags. Must be one of those ironic names.
