Vibration Dampening for Turntables
Anyone got any good, easy suggestions to dampen the vibrations from big speakers coming into the turntable and then creating low-end feedback?
Please do not suggest those ugly orange blow up thingies.
I know a solid floor is the best way to help prevent it, but thats not always an option for me.
Tuna cans and rubber bands, or tennis balls cut in half.
make the base table as firm as possible... cinderblocks or bricks are usually the best way, and then add some tennis balls
also putting a rubber mat underneath the equipment, on top of the cinderblocks is a good way too
all depends on how much feedback we are talking here
Well last time I could make a moderate tap on the side of one of my 1200s when the needle was on the record and stopped and have it feedback and grow...
Course a pair of 18" drivers were next to the decks too.
Google Vibration Dampening Pads. You'll get a ton of results, just find one that fits. Basically a rubber pad to put under the feet.
There's always those air cushions:

Look like the Cingular logo and from most of what I heard they suck.
cement patio blocks at the surface under the table, then hockey pucks or masking tape rolls with rubber bands under the decks should help you along
There was a company that sold professional feet for the technics decks to clubs (metal not rubber and very expensive) but I can't find it right now

Here's the secret....cut soft grade squash balls in half - then place them underneath the feet of the TT's flat (cut) side facing up (against the bottom of the feet). They fit perfectly and are really good at damping vibration.
