pretty shit advice about logic!

Posted by EgosXII on Jan-28-2009 01:12:

have you ever used a sequencer before? and lol should've had a record by now

if you were a complete beginner as you seem to be, ableton probably is a good suggestion since it's the simplest sequencer around, especially for using samples...

then you could head onto logic when you have a better idea of what you're doing in production...
Logic is amazing, but i guess it would be a bit like jumping in the deep end if you're starting from scratch...

i've found youtube is alright for tutes tho...

have a look at this dude's section of youtube

its funny you say that.. i started with reason didn't understand it, but then jumped into logic and seemed to understand it much better, weird

ep1x - I suggest you go look around for other apple stores and always ask for the guy that knows logic. i went to 4 stores until i found the right one and i worked with him for like 10-12 sessions then started doing things on my own.

i've been producing for 2 and a half years now and i think my productions are pretty decent

Contact my good friend Alex Parsons - He runs 16 STEPS (link below), which is an online course tailored to your exact needs, whether you're a complete beginner or advanced producer and need some expert advice. He does it via webcam/ichat/msm and is currently signed to several labels including Brique Rouge - he's probably had more than 30 tracks commercially released ranging from Hard House to minimal funk and techno. He also works mainly in Logic, but is also Acid certified and is a ninja with cubase and ableton too. Oh yeah, and he's a school music theory teacher as well and a great DJ.

Mention that i sent you and he'll sort you out

Oh, and apparently patience is a virtue.

Hardly the right place to go for these kinds of issues.
But I must agree with sflogicninja on youtube is a great asset, in order to see how things are
done.
Youtube is great man, you are pretty spoiled if you dont realize that.
I had to figure out most of fl studio by myself. So dont come to me with your whining.

what do u know from before? what do u know about music in general?
maybe start with a simpler program like Reason? I remember i couldnt get one single sound out of cubase when i tried that so i just thought "well atleast i can dj", and stuck with that. also tryed fruity and some other crap but it wasnt before i tryed Reason i suddenly made a full track in no time. damn that feeling like saved me Not before now, 5 years later i think im ready to try something more complicated and ive bought logic (but need better mac than mini)

where was my fkn friend to tell me all of it??

edit: perhaps i've become bitter because of the experience...

But if you go and start with "easy" program like Reason/Fruity and take your time to learn them. And you are serious about making music, I think you are going to use Logic Pro8 (or something similar) in some point...

So (IMO) why use your time and energy (and MONEY since Reason/Frutiy aren't free after all) to learn how to use Reason and after that you need to forget how to use Reason and start to learn totally new program, like LP8?

Sure there are some similarities in different programs. But I think LP8 is sooooooo totally different than lets say Reason, in good and in bad...

Posted by Lolo on Jan-29-2009 05:48:

Logic 8 is waaaaay easier than its predecessors.

Everything is simplified. It creates tracks automatically, you don't need to create your own environment (alhtough doing so is recommended, but even that is easier than ever before), you get thousands of presets (although I'm not a fan).

But if you really don't get the software, it's probably because you're not enough into audio and music production??

Nowadays it's easy to fill the gap... Get the monthly Computer Music issue. Read it, again, again, and again.

And if you really can't get through after that, well, come to my country, and I'll give you some lessons.

Just give up. People like you shouldn't be producing in the first place.

eJay might be the product for you.

Oh wow, you've been producing for half a year and still don't understand a sequencer and haven't released any records Fuck man, when I started producing I had sold more records than Tiesto, Sasha, J00F and Paul van Dyk put together within 3 months!!!

If only you knew who where the trance legends from the past. You just cussed at one of them while he was genuinely trying to help.

Computer Music magazine can be of some help (I personally love it, lots of fun information in it especially with the trackers column they have now).

You just need to spend more time with the program and get into it and experiment. Some people here have been doing it for over 10 years (almost 13 years myself) and they're only getting proper results just now. Be patient and have fun.

No, seriously, just give up.

You've illegally downloaded everything, you've got tons of tutorials and you can't even get past chapter 2 on the manual. It's because of people like you others still think "techno" is made by a push of a button. Why would anyone want to help you when you're clearly not willing to put any effort in whatsoever?

What the fuck is wrong with the youth of today?
