lol.

gotta love how "leaf nation" has to honour a player who took them aaaaaaaaaaaaallll the way.... to losing in the semi-finals, b/c that's all they've got.

Posted by Pett on Feb-01-2009 00:23:

to give them credit it was wayne fucking gretzky.

p.s. get the fuck out of my thread

Posted by The Ear on Feb-01-2009 00:25:

Hey man, I'm not saying he wasn't the best they had at the time. I'm saying that no matter who they put in that uniform, short of Wayne himself during that era, couldn't have won.

Largely b/c Potvin was in net. Also, b/c the Leafs are cursed. lulz.

Edit: & you're damn right it was Wayne. Any man who's got the presence of mind to use Dave Ellett's skate to bank the puck in off of when the was no other King within 20 feet of the net deserves to win.

Maybe the leafs can hire him as new coach!

decent tribute, but the Wendel Clark one killed it, that highlight real was ridiculous.

how insane of a feeling must that be watching your number raise up like that.......jesus...... i dare any grown man not to shed a tear.

The Leafs are desperate, he barely played a quarter of his career with them, not winning anything... ugh lame.

He was a loved leaf and thats why his number was raised.

I agree that its pathetic to raise his number to the rafters when the only record he holds is most playoff points by a leaf and he never won anything as a leaf.

He also holds the leafs all time points record with 127 during the 92-93 season and also won the Selke Trophy that season

oh stop whining about that game (I think you mean Game 6 when Gilmour was high sticked by Gretzky, who then buried the puck past Potvin moments later, love it!).

The reason the Leafs lost that year is that they stupidly stopped checking Gretzky in the last few games and he woke up and killed you. Besides, there was no way that Leafs team would have beat Montreal and their 10 OT wins that year. Something divine was clearly going on there.

I'm not a Leafs fan, but even I know he's arguably one of the top 5 most popular Leaf's players of all time, if not the most popular.

Only 50-goal scorer in Rangers history..and he's a Windsorite heh

Doug IS and always wil be a legend.
Cant love players like him more.

He reminded me of fuckin Rambo on the ice : aggressive, nuts, and out to kill.
I still can get over how much he and Rambo look alike
