BJ Penn
Let you be the judge!
was this honestly that much of a surprise? you can't just come up in weight and beat the champ of that division, especially someone like GSP.
someone said they cant wait to see anderson silva vs GSP and that UFC is going to try to make silva come down in weight and put GSP up to make it happen. Stupid idea if you ask me. GSP will get destroyed ppl dont realize that when ur a lightweight going up a division to the welterweight, mentally u think ur the small guy going to fight the big boys. i mean these guys cut to get to welterweight for the weigh ins and the next day they gain like 15 pounds before the fight.
the only person who should be going up divisions is anderson silva.
GSP vs. Silva sounds good on paper but somehow I don't see it living up to the hype.
that was insane! bj looked so damn bad! lol....
Penn bailing out for the 5th round was coward! boooo him
GSP ftw

lol if anyone saw the primetime hype video for UFC 94 they would konw BJ was talking sooo much trash, calling GSP a quitter and a bitch. And looked what happened tonight.
But smack talking aside. BJ actually did really well considering that he's not in his natural weight class. Anyone who's been in any martial arts, boxing or whatever would know how hard it is for your body to adapt to a diff weight..
The first round looked about even, GSP trying to get BJ down, but BJ has amazing balance and agility it's supernatural.
But as the rounds go by you can easily tell that BJ was slowly getting gassed and he was in no position to fight.. he looked like a dying fish.
Can't wait to see what he has to say after the fight and in interviews.

Fuckin' GSP.
lol @ the poll.
GSP via TKO was the logical outcome...but it was hard to imagine Penn being dominated like that by anyone. Penn would run through most of the WW division, but he really should stick to being the #1 LW on the planet. Too bad many of the best LW are not in the UFC because there are some great matchups out there for him (Aoki being one) :\
I think GSP is going to school Alves and we'll see him fight Anderson Silva by the end of the year.
Machida's KO tonight was good, but the rest of the card was pretty meh.
hahaha gsp destroyed penn. he needs to work on his cardio. he was exhausted after the 1st round. montreal love
Seems liked a lot of long drawn out cards tonight. Seen more action in a Jerry Springer show. Fighters had some good shots, but seems like UFC matched the fighters to have it dragged out to eat up as much airtime/profits as it could...imo... still good entertainment, just what UFC's good for
edit: what does roflcopter mean anyway

I like the first fight where, what was it, Clay Gudia or some such? Anyway, he won the match by HUGGING the dude for 3 rounds. At least Diaz was trying to put some submissions on, all Clay was doing was holding on tight, did he even ATTEMPT a punch or submission in his 15 minute hugathon?
The Jon Jones fight wasn't that bad either Mark, but Machida's punch was the hit of the night, bar none. Half a second left and... BOOM! Lights out!
solid "fight" i guess.
props to b.j. for staying in it and showing some serious heart as outmatched as he is.
how useless was that ref in the 4th round, gsp smoked him in the back of the head like 50 times, follow through buddy and stand them up. at least that way we would have got a real knockout.
Thiago looks and sounds so rattled, doubt he'll last more than 2 rounds.
fuckkk!!! I missed it. Can someone please post the video or tell me where I can watch it?
I figured it was a lock in for GSP, I mean no one moves up a weight class and beat the champ. Penn got put in his place, he brought nothing to the fight. Hopefully he can mentally recover from this ass kicking and keep on dominating the LW class.
The Machida fight was the one i was looking forward to the most. And he delivered. Damn this guy is good. The title fight should be a dandy.
nice hammer punches from GSP...
no chance from blow job

| B.J. Penn's camp has filed a formal complaint with the Nevada State Athletic Commission over Vaseline that was allegedly rubbed on Georges St. Pierre's back between rounds one and two. UFC president Dana White said at the post-fight press conference that he was aware of the complaint, and said he personally witnessed members of the commission take the Vaseline away from GSP's camp and rebuke them in the Octagon between rounds. "I saw the commission jump up there and flipping out," said Dana White. They said one of the guys was rubbing Vaseline on Georges' back in between rounds. It was one and two, I think." "The guys from the athletic commission went up there and started screaming at them. Knocked the Vaseline and kicked the Vaseline out of the Octagon." White added that "some Vaseline on a guy's back didn't change the outcome of that fight, but you don't do it," and said the blame should fall on the cornerman responsible and not GSP. "If a guy was intentionally putting Vaseline on a guy's back, he should never corner a mixed martial arts fight again." As for what becomes of the complaint now, White said it's out of his hands. "Who knows. That's up to the commission." |
