16-Bit Trumpets

Where can I find some synth wise? Or other good 16-bit sounds in general?

A lot of people use "general MIDI" to refer to the cheesy sound set that most computers use to play MIDI files.

As you point out, though, the MIDI standard doesn't actually dictate which sounds will be used. It's just that most computers use cheesy ones if you open them up in a normal player like Windows Media or something.

Gladiator makes the best trumpet sounds w/out a doubt.

Other good vsts come pretty close, but gladiator sounds the best for trumpets. I'd prob say out of all the sounds it does the trumpet selection sounds the best. (although it is good for other sounds)

Interestingly enough, after watching a few dos games on youtube where the person's video (taped, since I think they didn't have video capture programs back in 1990) a game with midi music the sounds actually sound quite a lot worse then the modern computers, which after playing a few games on different computers it seems the sounds were standardized across all modern (I'm guessing about mid-late 90s ish) sound cards and onboard sound.

mmm street fighter music. Grew up on SF2 Arcade and then on SNES SF2 and then MAMe/Kalliera SFA3. There actually is a decent remix website, i'll try to find it.

remixes/album

And this is a lush version of Sagat's theme, I can start or end a mix with it, who would have thunk that a remix of a theme from a game I use to play could make it into a mix.
