Maid of Honour/Bachelorette Party

If you don't know, how did you get this position?

Doesn't always work out that way silly girl. Friend of mine is best man and he knows shit about what to do, and this is a formal wedding. He's asking me, and I know shit about what to do either, lol. I hate weddings, and I hate people that insist on blowing their life savings and then some for one stupid day that will end with the big D. Elope FTW, or better yet, keep the law away from love. Marry for money.

+1

My best friend of many, many years got engaged this weekend and she asked me to be her MOH. I have never been the MOH before... so I dunno wtf I am doing. Luckily I have some time (next summer), but I would like to be prepared. I am a poor student with very little time, so this will take a lot of advanced planning.

When in doubt, ask wikipedia. At least you've got a starting point, as opposed to being in utter ignorance

Or, better yet, ask your friend what the hell you're supposed to do. Worked for me last time I was appointed to some fancy role in a wedding (it happened hours before the wedding, though, and it was great).

I eloped. The money and headaches I saved are fucking priceless. And, nobody's mad at me for it. On my 5 year anniversary, which is in 3 years, I'll have some kind of "renewing of the vows" ceremony or some shit probably..... but, yeah, elope FTW

I was a best man this summer. And all the dudes we I wanted at the party are sketchy hippi kinda dudes. So I tried to make plans, but eventually I just ended up getting everyone over to one house one night, I bought an ounce of mushrooms, and we all got dropped off outta town in this small forest area where we wandered around and layed in the grass, and threw glow sticks around in the dark. Great night, went perfectly actually.

I have THE answer for you. Throw her a sex toys party with alcohol and all of your friends. You will stimulate the economy when buying toys, body butter (I like peach...yum), lotions and oils. Then, when all of you are all liquored up and horney, you can use the aforementioned items on each other. Just make sure to video the whole thing and post it here. Thanks in advance.

LOL @ this thread.

She and her fiancee have asked me to assist in finding the "perfect" ring (he didn't get the engagement ring before he proposed). So I have been trying to help with that, but she messages me and demands I send her pictures.

Do you think I should comply and let her see the rings we have been browsing, or should we enforce that it remain a secret?

I am very confident in my ability to pick something out that she would love, but she is a snoopy type of person who can't wait for surprises.

P.S. For those of you who are interested, I suggested this ring:

She loves pearls, and wants something unique but classic and elegant. I think this would suit her perfectly.

Posted by Frenchie on Feb-06-2009 21:38:

I'd be so afraid that it would pop out.

Yea, that is the really lame thing about pearls - they protrude so much from the band that I would imagine they are easier to dislodge.

Meh, pearls wouldn't be my personal choice, but I know she loves them, so why not?

I don't know whether I should let her in on the ring choices (it's her wedding/ring etc. she should be able to do whatever she wants), or if I should enforce the surprise thing. I dunno, personally I don't think I would want to pick out my own engagement ring.

Can't you fake a serious illness and get out of this?

LOL!

I would prefer not to. She is my best friend and I would like to do it, I just need to figure out WTF to do.

P.S. Was that a reference to another TA?

Posted by Zoso on Feb-06-2009 21:56:

No reference that I am aware of. But I have a poor memory. I think.

If my memory serves me correctly, one of the female TA's was supposed to be the MOH for her friend, but because she had/has cancer, she bailed out.

Thought maybe you were referencing that.

Posted by Zoso on Feb-06-2009 22:14:

No ma'am. I don't recall that incident.

Squirrelly?

Not reading all of this but Lira's quote if true reaks of harshness even to these drink addled ears.

The groom was a bell-end of extra-ordinary merit if memory serves?
