Jester websterhall is just plain wierd

so after that whole argument about above and beyond playing at webster i checked out their website and i found a new sunday afternoon party...this seems all kindsa peachy and fun, i thought FUCK YEA...sunday funday is back. but then i looked at the fine print:

MOVIES IN THE STUDIO
FOOD IN THE PEACH AND PINE ROOM

first off...where the fuck should there be space wasted in a club for a movie room...and also wouldn't that lead to a whole lot of drug behavior (dark room, seating) which im actually all for.
Second...Food??? wtf??? and also on that note...what the fuck is a peach and pine room and who thought of putting together those two objects??

All in all...what the fuck is up with webster hall...or as its now knows as...WH

This concludes my rant

exactlty
during the holiday season pacha and other clubs during the week rent out their space for holiday parties
and i remember i read somewhere a few years ago that cielo used to have a sunday day party for parents and their children
they played like disco music and had some entertainers come in

again people AT THE END OF THE DAY...A CLUB IS STILL A BUSINESS!!!
lol

Posted by chupa169 on Feb-04-2009 14:29:

Whats wrong with a club using its space for alternative events? They pay huge amount on rent on the space wether it is open or not. Events liek this help pay the bills just as Fri/Sat night parties. Why is that wierd?

You also cant compare a Made Event party with a Sunday day party.

So what is your suggestion? They book huge djs all the time every day of the week?

yes yes yes!!!

heheh

no theyre right....its a business and people have to make money- for a space like that to be CLOSED is just murder to a budget...if theres a way to bring in profit- its done. end of story. theyre smart to do anything that brings in profit. end of story

Hmm... I just checked the website and that's a pretty dope lineup, not sure what the confusion is about?? David Morales and Louie Vega early on a Sunday night, that's awesome! Also, it's at 6PM, not too early, and ends at 2AM, it's pretty much an extension of those Danny Krivit 718 Sessions parties and deep house events they do once a month, but now a weekly thing. They always start at 6PM, etc... Also, the list of promoters, most of them are pretty seasoned and well-known in the business, I wouldn't be surprised if this party does really well with the deep house crowd, which is really way more than you'd think. Although it's closed now, think about how many 25-40 y/o people Shelter used to draw week-in and week-out at 4AM. So this is a Sunday party, you know people are going to be packing it out! I might check this out one of these weeks...

I'm not saying I'm right but I remember Silverbull always putting videos on ClubPlanet, like documentaries of DJs, dancing, New York venues, Paradise Garage, etc... I'm gunna guess it's something like that, which is pretty damn cool actually. And as far as the drugs are concerned, I'm sure there's people going there for that, but I've found deep house parties to be generally sober and all for the love of dance, or at least the dozen or so I've been to (that weren't afterhours). I've had more fun at deep house parties than I have at most of the techno and trance events I've been to, it's a whole other style and vibe of "going clubbing".

lol, it happens.

I actually like the alternative formats like this. A movie room? Thats awesome haha. I would love to be able to chill out in a room like that during a party.

The food thing...its a Sunday afternoon party. Its actually not that bad an idea. A lot of these big clubs don't allow re-entry once people leave, so giving people that option during a day time party kind of makes sense.

Yeah, I played at this rave once in Long Island City that had one big room with microwaves and 80cents White Castle burgers... You have no idea how good of an idea that was lol...

I defiantly wasn't saying that a sunday early evening party wasn't a good idea, more the fine print, but on the contrary i think a sunday evening party would be amazing. something really low key just for the love of the music. i feel like the crowd at one of these events would be amazing in contrast to the people there just looking to get tanked, hit on girls, and start fights that go out during the weekend...the my new haircut people
