Rasta NO SMOKING @ The Mark??

Ok guys...so me and Pablo have been tossing this subject back and forth about deciding weather or not to allow smoking at the Mark. We both thought it would be cool to get everyone else's opinion on this matter so please let us know what you think.-Hernan

a few PRO'S AND CON'S according to us:

PRO: would enhance the look of the club (make it less foggy)
PRO: no second hand smoke for non-smokers
PRO: eliminates the trash left behind such as ash and buds
PRO: less chance of the club buring down. (LOL)

CON: Smokers would have to go to street level to smoke
CON: no sales from cigarette's or cigars
CON: Loss of Sponsorship money from distributors

I would vote yes... but that's just because I tend to chainsmoke at parties, but I always ash in a tray or trashcan!

Posted by Poplife on Feb-04-2009 04:46:

that doesnt make sense...so your saying YES to NO SMOKING..or YES to keeping it the way it is?

Posted by enydo on Feb-04-2009 04:50:

Oh sorry, reading comprehension and all... yes to leaving it how it is I suppose!

I don't smoke, and I don't like smoke around me. But I'd rather have The Mark than no Mark if the money matters. Also, I'd rather hear smokers' opinions before I form my own.

I enjoy my smokes at the Mark. Going all the way upstairs for a smoke is such a pain in the ass, specially with those small stairs.

Keep it as it is.

Indeed smoking with my drinking is a must and if I couldnt smoke some where it could be the deciding factor if I go or not. Because thats the way in athens and ill skip over bars because of it.

So keep it ya.

I'd say let it continue as it is. It's hard keeping an electronic club open in Atlanta as it is much less if you start putting restrictions on the patrons.

Is it possible to install better ventilation?

Posted by spainj125 on Feb-04-2009 22:54:

Well even people that don't normally smoke like to puff on a few when they are fucked up....so I say leave as is...I think changing that would get a lot of complaints...

I really hate smoking at clubs and hate smelling like a cig. Smoking is really the rudest thing as far as I am concerned. Be considerate for a change, were going to a club for music and drinks not a smokers convention or a hookah bar. If you have to smoke take it out side. If you ask anyone from NY/LA they will tell you it's awesome to go out and not smell like a dirty butt when you go home. Having to take a shower and quarantine my cloths after going out sucks. I personally won't even talk to a chick if she's smoking.

As a business owner I would have to weigh what moula your talking about as far as the sponsorship and sales action. I don't think you will have people who do not come because of the non smoking, but I do believe you will get people who come for the non smoking aspect of it. I really can't wait for the day when it's all over and there is no choice.

If possible maybe make one room for smokers? Not sure how easy/hard that would be though.

I am surprised more non smokers are not chiming in. Where you at, I know your out there, cause I hear you complaining when ever were out.

Just want to point out 2 things in this, Athens, and Bars. The Mark is not a bar nor is there any good music in Athens. So... no comparison what so ever. LOL

Yo, smokers. I don't care if you smoke in any club as long as it is one of these. Not only eliminates second hand smoke, but is cheaper for you in the long run. Knock yourself out!

Shame / Disagreement

just posted in lunar and had a few more thoughts.

Owning a coffee shop in Gwinnett, well smoking is not allowed, So it's on the Deck and even in this cold ass weather those that have to just go out side, get there fix and come back in. Coffee and smoking go together like a bar but where is there a coffee shop that you can smoke in other then Amsterdam. Really I think if it was my place, no smoking. I think it's time and I think it'll be a plus rather then a minus. I am really glad this is coming up, it's a great debate.

Agreed. I think the thing that bothers me most about smoky clubs is that if I wear a nice jacket (i.e., any night remotely as cold as tonight) it stinks to high heavens when I leave and dry cleaning is a rip.

..........not that that has ever stopped me from going out.

I have no problem with stepping outside to smoke, but dammit if I miss something good inside I'm going to be pissed. I try to be as courteous as I can with cigarettes, I know most people hate them and automatically view people who smoke as "disgusting" so I try to be discrete, keep the cigarette away from people I know how annoying it is to get burned, and throw the bud in a tray or trashcan, I never ash on the floor

Other than that I don't know what to say, I don't smoke very regularly, but I really enjoy my cigs while I'm out. I know that this argument is basically unwinnable being on the smoking side, so I don't think it's worth pursuing it anymore.

Do what you gotta do, smokers are people too!

if more smokers were considerate like you there would not be a problem at all. I applaud you for being a kinder gentler smoker :0) unfortunately this is not the case for say 88 percent or more of the smokers out there. The next time your at a stop light just take a peak at the ground and see how many cigarettes are on the ground. Just a little bit disturbing that not only must you smoke, but then you hate the nasty thing so much you can't wait to get rid of it and have to litter.

Sorta. it's scentless tobacco is a small pouch. it's sold in a little fridge like red bull, and you don't have to spit. you stick it in your mouth until the flavor is gone.

Since its not dip you can swallow it its made so you can and you put 2 of those suckers in each cheek so no one can see and you drink your beer.

1: it flavors your beer its kinda nice really it is
2: its like constantly smoking a cig for 15 mins like you buzz nice on zeee pouches.
