2000 and One - Heritage [100% Pure]
Artist album from 2000 and One. Some proper house music in this.

Burnin Dub, Honey Bush, Wan Poku Moro all do the business for me.
I was looking forward to this, but I was disappointed by the end result.
Some of the vocals he uses are cheesy as hell.
Yeah I concede they are a bit cheesy, but I dig what he's doing...sort of blending old school house with a little bit o techno.

Not bad, not spectacular. I think there were a couple I liked but nothing special.
dunno. disappointing for me given other stuff he's produced/remixed, and a bit underproduced aswell.
Finally out the 4x12". Love the 2000 And 1 stuff. Nice album
This is quite good. My fav track is "Honey Bush".
Definitely a clubby vibe going on here. Liked some of the tracks like Burning Dub, Spanish Fly, Dat Na Poku and such...crap, that's like half the album! But honestly I think these tracks would have benefited a lot more from EP releases. This is an album to bring with you to the club, not one to chill out to on your home system. With that said, as an album this is kind of below-average. But like I said, I think the tracks, some of which are quite solid, would have found a better home on an EP rather than a full-length. And yea, some of the vocals are so meeeh. Almost feels like they were pre-loaded samples that came with whatever software/hardware/sample pack he was using to produce this.
of all the tracks i like spanish fly the most, but the samples suck on bp... may have to listen a few times over before deciding whether to pick it up or not..

But don't you guys think this is sort of a lame attempt at an artist album? Dunno, just doesn't feel like an album to me. But I guess if the tracks are solid it doesn't really matter.

I mean, its cool that everyone has decided to bring house back and jump on the old school bandwagon, but with market saturation you better be doing a fucking good job at it or it won't last...
It seems as though some of you guys dont appreciate a lot of the music you follow, unless its some artistic mirage of a track. Maybe its time to hang it up and get into ambient or an obscure genre that has originated on a tiny island and never left that island but somehow made its way to the internet. Find music where your feelings aren't being hurt by the music you listen to. If you are that jaded, tbh you really shouldn't be sitting here discussing the genre anymore, might be wasting your time?
Everything has been done, even your favorite producers tracks have been done already. The album is solid, every track is decently produced and arranged. There is a good vibe in there. It doesnt reinvent any wheels, but what it is doin it does well. That said, try to respect the work artists put into their music, especially the work that goes into something like an LP.

I just listened to it again, and yeah, theres not one track on that whole album that I would play. Wan Poku Moro seems promising but once the vocal repeats a few times it's just like -_-
Burnin Dub is the only one I could kind of see myself playing but its just so generic sounding...
So yeah...

lol
I must be doing something completely wrong because I feel like people get a terrible impression of me.

So yeah... ...and thank God I'm not required to. Because my taste is different (obviously) and the fact that opinions differ on similar music is what makes this whole scene more interesting imo. |

| When he was producing this album I dont think he said "let me make something for the chinstrokers on TA." So you might not like it or it might not be something your into at the moment, but there are probably hundreds of others who enjoy this music, and maybe its something fresh to them. Not everyone sits in front of an RSS feed of tracks coming out. |
Where did I say that no one else should listen to this? You think I sit in front of an RSS feed of tracks coming out?

More importantly, when I talk about music with my friends and family, I can only think of how little time is wasted on "this sucks, this I wouldnt play, this is generic," we spend 99% of the time talking about music that is good and sharing music that is good. We get furthur in our journey through music that way. When sitting with elders in the family and they put on music, all we hear is good music and the talk about good music. So it boggles my mind the amount of discussion that goes on about music that isnt good or music that people dont like instead of music that is good or music that people do like. What sort of music culture are you guys living if there is so much focus on the negative and neglect of the positive? I can't imagine this sort of culture in a record shop or any place outside of this forum where people talk about music, very unnatural. |
discussion forums are for discussing.
i like some samples from this, but not really any of the full tracks.
he should have pitched the vocals down low low low.

"Egusi" is an absolutely fantastic deep tune, my favourite on this album.
