anymore takers on this ?

Posted by Damerchi on Feb-09-2009 15:02:

you obviously have talent with the synthesis and mixdown, but this track for me felt like an Asot filler tune. very proffessional sounding. I am not a fan of the 2 min + breakdowns unfortunately.

lush pads, some robert nickson/daniel kandi ish elements in there as well.

is this going on bonzai?

Hey labelbuddy ,

I really like your track! Good job!
Although I think you can make more out of the impact after the break. I was expecting a really big impact, and to be frankly, it wasn't quite there, if you know what I mean.

Other than that, great job !!

Posted by Subtle on Feb-09-2009 17:02:

Pads sounds dissonant, nice plinky piano, i like the panned hats or whatever.

The lead reminds me of something.. ooh got it on my tongue..
Yes... Airwave - Above The Sky

Fairly clean production, maybe you could add a clap on the beat ?

Thumbs up

Very powerful and intense!
For the uplifting fan out there! I really liked it.
Very good work!

cheers buddy, yeh i think that is down to my lack of mastering skills because before i attempted to master it it sounded great when it kicked in but after my master attempt u can hardly hear the crash even tho i went back in to the project and turned it up some more. think ill get it mastered properly then see how it sounds.

@Subtle - cheers buddy, when i was making it it actually sounded familiar to me too lol but couldnt think what it sounded like.

@danyoghia - thanks mate

Hi Andy. I hope i'm able to provide some constructive feedback.

I was impressed by the production value. You're clearly very talented, as this is very clean and well produced. It does however have a certain element of ASOT filler in it, as someone else pointed out. I honestly believe you've sold yourself a little short on this one, as my comments will hopefully unveil.

Just to note, I really don't like the bassline much at all. That's personal taste though, because it isn't poorly produced or bad.

The build is excellent.

The melody left me feeling a bit dissapointed, I wanted more from it and I think you could get a great deal more from it. The pads are brilliant and well EQ'd.

I feel like the percussion is just there to fill out the track, namely after the kick-out. I think you'd benefit a great deal from adding more depth into it by creating a more complex percussive rhythm.

Hope these comments are useful.

cheers for the comments bud, im still working on it. so far ive added another bassline. the percussion is the thing i seem to lack with my tracks and i know it so im gettin a mate to help me in that area now so we will see what he comes up with. as for the melody, im happy with it and it, along with the other elements will sound much better once its mixed down and mastered properly. just hope theres a label interested when its done lol

cheers for listening

I wish you all the best because this track is amazing!

Posted by djandymac on Feb-12-2009 15:36:

dont think ive had so much positive feedback on a track before

Posted by Evolve140 on Feb-13-2009 06:00:

I would only say that some of the synths seem very preset, and less personal. It does have a late 90s trance sound which isn't a bad thing. I do think some of the synths lack character and depth, however.

Be Cool!

Dude potential killer track here. Right up dream alley and into the tunnel of love My kind of sound!! lol

I do have some suggestions but thats all they are, not crits as I'd love to make a break like this. The synths sound awesome - what you using by the way? Sweeps are also awesome.

Anyhow I think the percs could improve and as said already the bass line. A nice driving bass line that doesn't follow the melody would be awesome, will improve the climax when the beat comes back in after the break. For percs I think a snare would really work and needs some hats. Maybe experiment with a few loops just to see how they fit into the mix.

Anyhow sounds pretty good as is so good work.

Reno

Pretty good track .. Try sending it to a label

Track is very well produced, builds great expectations, but dies at the climax. I expected full blown Epic meltdown, If you can capitalize on the tension expectations, you've got a winner! not as much the arrangmement, but i miss some iron layers and raw rollin bassline to keep it going

cheers buddy, lol theres already a snare in there but due to my bad mixing you cant hear it. im having a friend of mine mix it down for me and master it. id keep trying myself but i know my mixing skills arent good enough yet and i dont think a potentially good track should go to waste because of it lol.

@ noicuc, i will be sending it to some labels when the final product is finished

@ raphie, cheers for comments buddy. as i said earlier in the thread, before my attemp to master the track it sounds great after the breakdown but afterwards it seemed dull. ive added another bassline myself and working on the percs a little more, so we'll see how it turns out
