Old people & driving

this is scary & funny at the same time, an 87 year old lady driving into a store window because she mixed the gas pedal with the break.

"oohh ... is this the Country Kitchen Buffet?"

yesterday 80 year old lady ran red light and clipped me pretty bad. she smashed the front passenger wheel so bad that fkin thing bended half way. same reason as stated above, she pressed gas instead of break.

shouldn't the driver's medical (incl. mental condition) be tested regularly?

Whenever I pass someone who's going really slow, I check to see if it's an old person. Probably nine times out of ten, it is.

once you reach age 70 you should have to take an in car exam with an instructor every two years in order to get a license renewal. just because some old bastard can see the shit on the vision test enough to pass doesn't mean they should still be on the road

When I was growing up in FL, which is chalk-full of old people, I would see at least 1 story per week in the newspapers talking about some old guy having a heart attack at the wheel and driving into a lake, or some old person who would drive into the front of a store. Plus it's hilarious to see them with their huge cataract glasses on.

same thing happened at a grocery store by my house when i used to wkr there as a teenager cept the old lady even cliped someone, and instead of mistaking gas for brakes she mistook reverse for forward

also, if, from behind, you don't see anyone in the seat AND they're going slow it's most definitely an old person.

know someone whose car got totaled by an old lady who floored the gas pedal by mistake in a shopping mall parking lot.

And God be praised for that. Can you imagine how dangerous it would be if they drove fast?

LOL, yeah. I have actually seen some old guys going quite fast, though. Maybe they just don't give a damn anymore?

When I was growing up, our mailbox (made of bricks, extremely heavy) got knocked over by the old woman across the street who gave her car a bit too much gas when backing up.

Sometimes when I am driving I get so angry at inconsiderate drivers that I want to scream at them. But then I remember how insignificant that is, and I thank God that I have a car and my health and gas. That was phrased wrong - normally you wouldn't say, thank God I have gas.

Non old people drive through stores all the time. People are just looking for excuses.

Once when I was 10, my dad took me to a go-kart track and paid some laps for me. At the end when I was going to park it, I mistook the throttle for the brakes and punted the kart into the wall.

Thankfully I've grown up to be a pretty decent road driver I think. Not so much as a driver at speed, as my attempts in online racing games have shown...
