a decent amount of resonance should do it.

Posted by djandymac on Feb-11-2009 11:07:

i dont think sean tyas will have used this but there a a few arp presets in rob papens predator that sound similar, then all u have to do is create your arp pattern and play with the resonance til ur happy

Nooo... not that sound PLEASE!!!

Take a Saw wave or whatever, phatten it a little and put a Band Pass filter on it and play around with cutoff and resonance..

For real. That sound has been used in so many bog standard trance tracks since 2000 or so.

He uses a Virus Ti or Logic's ES2 for pretty much everything. You can really hear it in all his tracks.. guy needs to get a few new instruments.

Full-on acid or go home.

He is doing a great job with those, no need to over complicate things.

Are you guys really going to criticize a guy who is one of the biggest and most consistent trance produces in the world? How many releases does he have between his productions and remixes?

The guy has been able to turn a hobby for 99.999% of trance enthusiasts into a career and not only does he have top quality productions but is awesome to see live. His tracks are unique and recognizable as a Tyas track at the same time.

In addition he is very approachable and willing to lend production advice (that many producers/DJs in his league would not take the time to do) to just about anyone.

If you guys want to sit here and bag on the guy go ahead but my hats off to him. We all know that if he was spinning one of your tunes though that you would be singing a different tune

tyas = legit

Posted by Theran on Feb-12-2009 10:43:

Well, to get ontopic again.

Take any type of 303 emulator, play around with the resonance and some some filter automation.

Posted by djandymac on Feb-12-2009 10:44:

tyas = god damn legend. ill probs get slated for this but on the ta forums people obsessed with coming up with new sounds all the time constantly striving to be different and putting down people who use the same sounds more than once even though the people who are using these sounds are creating good music. personally imo you can only have so many sounds that will sound good in the genre you are using. rant over lol let the slating begin

There is alot of bash of Tyas, because he is popular but doesnt really bring anything new to the table.

But he seems like a great guy and his success comes from being really dedicated to what he does.

i would agree with this

you guys are acting like i was attacking tyas as a person
i actually hung out with tyas for a whole night when he was down here a couple years ago, really nice down to earth dude... he parties

i do think he uses the same formula for every track though which is why, personally i find him a bit of a boring producer. no question he is extremely talented, but if you played a set of his tunes (as he does) it would be/is extremely boring because there's no variation..

Posted by flutlicht junky on Feb-12-2009 12:53:

Its because he doesn't like doing the arrangment but prefers to spend time creating the melodies, sounds etc. Fair enough!!

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Feb-12-2009 14:25:

I just don't understand why, with all the creative opportunities that electronic music provides, people would use the same sounds and arrangement over and over. Seems to me like it would be really boring.

Disagree...go listen to

Pacifer
Lift
One more night out
Melbourne,

quite a bit of variation in these tracks,

Posted by Theran on Feb-12-2009 15:42:

This really is going nowhere! The guy is asking how to create a acid line like Sean Tyas... and you guys end up flaming Tyas... What the hell is wrong here!!

well i guess its a personal preference of what you like more about tracks isnt it. im a sucker for beautiful melodies and chord progressions and if the sounds created to use them are repeated in most tracks it wouldnt bother me aslong as i enjoyed the compsition.

Posted by chrisspob on Feb-12-2009 16:03:

for this effect i find an appropriate sound uasually a resy sawy bass sound then set the cutoff and or resonance to note velocity then change the volocity of each note in my midi editor to create the desired effect, would also cut all the low end too with an eq

Posted by alanzo on Feb-12-2009 16:18:

That's not really an acid line. More a filtered, wide range band pass from about 300hz - 3khz, pulse bass patch with a little bit of phaser on it for movement.
