A.D.D. - who got it, what you do for it, how does it affect you?
Time to establish TA-MD thread. I am noticing that I'm totally ADD at times. Actually, most of the time. Shit is distracting to the point where I feel I need to start taking meds. Strangely, some parts of the day I am better than others - for example after 6PM or so, I get hyper-focused. Just in time to go home and realize how much shit I have left undone.
Wonder how many of you got it and how do you deal with it (or not). Any meds, natural remedies, methods, etc.
c0r version: Hey, wanna ride my bike?
i think i have it, or at least a shortened attention span. and it just started happening since this past summer, i just can't seem to stay focused for anything. really makes work a pain in the ass since i sit there and type up forms for hours, i have to constantly go back and check if i entered the last one etc.
You don't get acute ADD, ffs. This learning disability is so fucking over/misdiagnosed it's not even funny. Just because you can't concentrate doesn't mean you have ADD.

no need to to go ape shit over what i said. i haven't seen a doctor about it, i'm just saying that i've noticed a difficulty in focusing especially recently when actually having to use it. and it's not like i haven't tried different/better sleeping patterns, eating habbits, and overall better day-to-day living. nothing seems to change the fact that i can't focus. i wouldn't be able to tell you if i've always had it or not, because i honestly didn't give a shit in high school. hard to tell if i had focusing problems if i never tried to focus.
If it was an issue, it would have been identified in childhood. It's considered a learning disability and has real physiologic effects in the brain. You have to go through months and months of testing to confirm diagnosis.
ADHD > ADD
Even though I'm always kidding about a supposed ADHD, I think I'm normal (at least in this sense). If I really had ADHD, I don't think I'd be able to read as much as I do. I tend to see everyone else as lazy bastards, though, because I'm always active and alert, whereas people around me often look so chilled, it's almost annoying.
What worries me is the fact that, the older I get, the more I feel like I'm on an everlasting sugar rush

I saw this girl last weekend, end of the night went back to her's you know etc etc.
Anyway, I think she had A.D.D, maybe even A.D.H.D.
Should I see a doctor?
i have it, got diagnosed years ago, ironically after I had completely finished school. i self medicated my entire school career by procrastinating because I could only focus on schoolwork when I was completely under the gun and had no choice. in 18 years of school I never studied for a test or started any work prior to the night before it was due, sometimes the morning of. i can't even tell you how many times i was up all night because I was writing a 20 page research paper the night before it was due, and this was back when you had to go to the actual library to do research not just look everything up on the internet. graduated college with a 3.5 gpa by some miracle. now i get a big fat bottle of dexedrine every month, it makes a huge difference. i took a professional certification a few years ago and had my meds while i was studying for and taking a test for the first time in my life and the difference was insane. i could have had a 4.0 in college if i had my meds then.
