Work Experience Problemos

Well my problemo is that i dont have a work experience job set up. I've tried Rhythm&Soul and Sanity Dance Arena in the city, but they said nada. So any ideas?.. Im lookin for some musical (music store/label/promoters) in Melbourne, but if not any of them, i'll have to go and do some boring shit at at law firm or something, heheh

Where'd some of you guys do it? - if you had to.

Ciao

I had to do it when I was in year 10, I wanted to go to Beam Software which is a computer game company. At the last minute they cancelled and I ended up at my Dad's work. I guess just keep trying other record shops or labels? Try nightclubs?

Yeh Im in Year 10 too and I sent emails to Central Station Records and Mushroom/Festival Records but so far I have got no reply. How long did it take Sanity to reply?

I actually went into the stores of Rhythm&Soul and Sanity to ask them, and they gave me a response on the spot pretty much. I've got the phone number to Future Entertainment so i'll give them a call sometime. I could possible do it in the Commercial Lounge cos my sister knows one of the DJ's there, so that could be a possibility.. but i dunno, i doubt the school would say if i put "Nightclub" as my job heheheh

arrgg! I wish I had thought of some better places to do my work experience before I organised mine...a nightclub or a music store would be great! but I'm obliged to go do "boring shit at a law firm" now, tehehe...

lol i dont think a nightclub could take work exp considering the age factor. and a record store, well to be honest i dont think they would do work exp not much of a experience if u ask me.

Well, Tim (sis's friend) said that all i need is a note from the ole parentals to say that i wouldnt be drinking yadiyada, so age isnt that much of a worry.

And as for the experience part of work experience, i dont wanna go to a law firm and sit there, being told every now and then to put something in the bin for whoever's in charge of me. A record store or somethin musical would be awesome as it's something i take a real interest in That's what Work Exp. is for.. to take a glimpse of an industry in which you think you'd like to go in.

some other places in melb u might want to try could be DMC records, One Stop DJ, there is another store near DMC records, forgot the name of it... Its just around the corner from it. U could try stores that sell DJ Equipment, thats One stop DJ i think does that... Well yeah, whatever u do, good luck...

I had to do two rounds of bloody work experience.

The first was at a golf club which was probably the worst week of my life. Scooping out wet sand from a bucket to fill in the divots on the teeing green while it's still dark kinda sucks frankly..... though I did get to drive the tractor for a bit.

The second was at BHP where they made me file all these documents that had just been taken out of one library so they could be put in another.... again, terrific stuff. Though I did spend half my time there just fucking around on the internet admittedly.

If you're planning on working at a nightclub, then I suppose it's possible (especially at a club like commercial lounge / club evolution which is open basically every night of the week) but it'd most likely have to be during the day which means you'd be sweeping up stale cig butts from the night before for most of the time. Could be wrong, but I'm thinking that's the way it's gonna work.

But if you can get the work experience at night though, then it should be fairly sweet I'm guessing.

Getting paid to drink Metz Ice and dance to funk-ay house muzak is my idea of a good job.

wtf planet are u from

it's TRANCEaddict, not HOUSEaddict

Mind you, house is all anybody ever seems to play over here
And if it's not house, it's shit-ass funk/breaks or disco rubbish

Haha, yeah true, but the club he's talking about plays predominantly house music (or r'n'b if you have the misfortune to be stuck downstairs after about 1 am).

And even if you don't like house music or alcohol, then there's always plenty of eye-candy there to oggle - pretty sure we've already discussed this aspect of Commercial Lounge somewhere. They're all very classy and very attractive, the "look but can't touch" variety.

Pretty stimulating stuff.
