Question Electro Cutting and Basslines?

Hey Guys,

May not be your cup of tea, but I'm really digging this new type of electro. My question is, how do they cut the basslines like that? For example, http://www.myspace.com/youfeedme if you check out the track, 'The Spell', I would love to able to do that. I love the guitar synths as well. If anyone, has a link or anything, please share!

Either very carefully through an audio editing program, or through a Glitching FX VST like Dblue Glitch. You'll also need a fast compressor to really pull it off after you've done the cutting or glitching. That "Spell" track wreaks of Distressor, which is a very responsive compressor. A much cheaper alternative yet fast enough would be FMR RNC. Also a short attack and release on the synth's ADSR would be part of the process.

^ What? It's just another sidechain. Search for "sidechain" and open up any of the 10,472 results and you'll have your answer.

I didn't listen to the entire track start to finish, but I can't see where Glitch fits into this either.

lol

As if you can tell what model compressor they used. Especially in a 96kbps mp3 file.

I know what sidechaining is. I use it a lot. I have a great compressor in my composer to do sidechaining. I wish I could get that kind of sharp, clean, compressed, professional sound.

That glitch VST is awesome! Thanks.
