I'm gonna be in Vegas in a few days for the first time
Can anyone recommend anything? shows games etc...
What games should I avoid playing?

ride the roller coaster on top of the New York New York hotel.

I thought that roller coaster was super weak actually.
For shows check out Cirque Du Soleil and Blue Man Group, both are amazing and pretty trippy. I didn't gamble a dollar while there though...

head to the top of Stratosphere too for the rides.

do New York New York rollercoaster at night when you're really drunk.

Fremont Street Experience is also cool, even more so when you're drunk.

Check out the Peter Lik gallery in The Venetian mall too if you like photography. Ask them to show you the lighting effect (pretend you may be interested in buying one, just don't ask about the prices). Don't have to be drunk to do that one.

Go to Slots A Fun and have their $1 foot long hot dog. HUGE! Old Vegas was cool. Maybe rent a Ferrari? Donuts....

OP: if you plan on gambling, stick to a casino and get their casino card. you get free shit and if you spend enough money, they give you more free shit.

Also getting a Deuce pass (Vegas's public bus) will save you a lot of walking. Unlimited use and it comes in multiple days and single days. It will take you up and down the strip and also to the Fremont in downtown Vegas.

If you plan on partying, you can find promoters on the street selling cheap passes to clubs like the Ghostbar and Playboy at the Palms. The Ghostbar is great because you are at the 55th floor and can see all of Vegas. Getting there is a bitch though, so take a cab.

If you have to play slots, play the slots by the entrances of the casino. I have no evidence that there is a higher percentage of winning but in my experience my money has lasted longer. Of course, brushing up on your blackjack and/or texas hold'em will be your best bet on actually winning something.

If you can get decent tickets, check out "O" at the Bellagio...most incredible show I've ever seen.
