Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)...
Well, Platinum Dunes, which is Michael Bay and co's production company, and responsible for a good percentage of the unnecessary and mediocre classic horror remakes we've been subjected to in recent years, is at it again with an upcoming remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Old news by now, but certainly slipped past my radar, and didn't see this posted elsewhere.
Making me even less optimistic is the fact that Robert Englund isn't coming back for this. So really, it's Freddy without 'Freddy.'

| On January 29, 2008, Variety reported that Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes production company would be rebooting the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.[35] Producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form told ShockTillYouDrop.com that they hoped to begin shooting the film as early as Spring of 2009. Samuel Bayer was contacted to direct. The Risky Business Blog hosted by The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Robert Englund will not reprise the role of Freddy. |
This stupid remake fad needs to die already.
If they invested only half of all this money in original material a lot of great stuff would come out.

Platinum Dunes should die.
I don't think a Freddy remake is a considerably bad idea but theirs very few people who can make this movie and make it right and god knows Platinum Dunes won't find anyone fit for the job.
I expect this to have a Linkin Park song as the theme, tons of terrible but attractive actors and lots of gore with no creepy tone whatsoever.

| Originally posted by Meat187 Yeah, the problem is that they're cheap, and with just a little promotion you get enough monkeys running to the cinema to make a little money. ![]() They sort of did run out of ideas for horror movies, for I can't think of anything innovative from the last years. Michael Bay: "Well, that would make a good movie. Let's put some CGI action scenes in it!" |

It's not going to be a Freddy film without Robert Englund.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was asked to do it but turned it down as he knows it will be a piece of crap....
....But then again, he did do Freddy vs. Jason.
