Anyone here got the hook on car audio?

I'm lookin to upgrade my ride's audio


I'm looking at a pioneer touchscreen head unit at the moment

can anyone offer some suggestions on head units as well as speakers?

JL all the way... of course that only applies to speakers/subs and amps.

I used to go to harwin to buy my stuff. Was usually cheaper than most places and got a discount if bought speakers and head units all at once. (it was called something Kong or Gorilla)

i'd much rather get speakers from a brand that specializes in speakers, subs from a brand that specializes in subs, and amps from a brand that specializes in amps

JL is meh unless you overpay for their good stuff, but you will overpay, and it won't be as good as something you could have found for cheaper

Yea Falcon is still there, just off Harwin and Fondren. Diego looks like a Mexican Jesus and he's cool as hell (he's the guy that checks out your car and gives you quotes). They apparently have the best prices. I just got Infinity's (6") in my car and a cheap ass head unit, in case Dirk decides to break into my car again. ANyway, the place where I got them had the speakers pretty cheap and the unit as well, along with free installation.

King Kong is still there but I don't know much about it.

Here's my car after it left Falcon btw.

i know a guy that is real helpful and price are real reasonable ... i bought a lot from him not long ago and he just helped me set mine up and i'm doing a custom trunk and highs here pretty soon just pm me if you need some more info..its worth checking out

I can't vouch for their amps first hand but I love their subs, and their higher end speakers sound very fucking good. Given, their higher range shit carries a bit of a premium. Shopping around online can cut that back though.

i would never buy an amp from jl, but if you want someone who specializes in subs, JL is the way to go. i used to have 3 jl 15W6's in the back of my old tahoe. great sound. i have since had 10's and 12's from them as well. all perform very nicely. i keep it factory now to preserve the hearing...

I will agree that those W6s are decent subs. I would get something else without thinking twice, but not bad.

fk yeah and the W7s are insane.

ive had the system for a couple yrs. now, i have nothing but good things to say about all the above brands.

just curious what car are you planning to install that in? have you gotten any quotes for that?

an '07 Rav-4 and no none yet

i paid $500 from my local audio shop for it. thats the msrp. normally id buy online but my system had been stolen & i had insurance money to use.

yeah I found it on like for like 300.00

Are you getting insurance on your system? As much as crime has been going up in Houston I personally wouldn't do it.
