surely there must be some sort of mathematical equation or something to work out what level to set ur sub at so its not too loud or too quite. maybe working it out by the number of watts ?

lol maybe im talking rubbish, but if not, does anyone know a way?

it really depends more one your room, where it is placed in the room relative to your monitoring position. It took me a while to get used to mine and I made several adjustments to it (crossover freq and gain) over time. I started by playing several comparison tracks that i was very familiar with. there are also sine wave programs you can use with a mic set at your monitoring position to help you create an eq curve for your master channel to compensate for your room....of course you need to turn this off before you export the track

certanly not the numbers of whats as these are measured in all kinds of diferent ways, pluss that a sub needs like 10 times more power than say a tweeter. subwoofers are really hell to set up but if u have some reference tracks you know (a track uve heard on 100 stereos and know what is supposed to sound like) then try using that as measuring. one hint, less is more.
