Any 80's dance clubs/bar going for an older crowd?
The directior of operations at my day job loves 80's music and wants to go out for her birthday. She's looking for club/bar/restaurant that plays 80's (possibly some other pop music from different generations) that caters to a slightly older or mature crowd (she's about 36-38 yrs old).
any suggestions?
hahahaha... 36-38 is older? Well I know it is when compared to the 21+ crowd but I was like thinking late 40's or 50's crowd.
Night club
80's music dance clubs in LA
^ thank you Trin.
and this was per her words...
(i'm beginning to move on to that next age bracket myself)
NO! Age has no freakin brackets! Once you start feeling old/older, you begin to LOOK old!

I highly recommend Sunday nights @ Dragonfly w/ Spazmatics. Is it a big party? I could connect you with the owner if you like.

The Ruby is fun, but if she is intimidated by the young crowd, forget it. It's 18 and over but you get the 16 year olds sneaking in. I feel creepy even being there sometimes. Its more of the cheesy 80's anyway.
The Hully Gully in Downey has an 80's party with 2 dance floors every saturday. They just remodeled the place and it looks good. Alternative 80's like Depeche Mode, New Order, Psychodelic Furs, etc. 21 and over.
Club London at Vertigos in downtown does 80's but on sunday nite. Same type of music as the Hully Gully.
Not too many all 80's options anymore.
The post before this one touches on it, but you really should find out if she wants 80s pop/rock (Prince, Madonna, Guns N Roses etc etc) or 80s New Wave/Alternative (ie Depeche Mode, etc)
Two completely different type of crowds. Look for goth clubs if you want new wave, lol.
I miss going to Cat's Club in SF on Thursday nights. Used to go religously between there or KitKat at the Endup on Thursdays. Hot as hell, never knew what type of crowd would show up, but it had two rooms. Front room was the pop/rock stuff usually a tad more filled. Very hot though. Back room was the new wave, completely different vibe...loved that back room. I used to get in free because my drivers license pic back then was me having full on bleached hair and it was taken at like 8am when I was like half asleep and I totally forgot to comb it. The chick at the door used to always make fun of it saying it was the worst drivers license pic she had ever seen and let me in for free out of sympathy. hehe. cover was only $5 as it was.. :P

we play everything on first fridays at anu. i have different guests every month so the music is always changing. we play goth/industrial, ska, synth pop, house and some rock. this month i have two djs that still have records from the 80s. no cover.
I'd try to get her to Circus. It's the right age group, and you might hear some remixed 80's stuff if you're lucky. At least it will be lively. I used to hit the smaller dives that played 80's music and it was always a much younger crowd.
