Cops on your ass...

and it may very well be called that.

Look, if I'm speeding over the speed limit, please be my guest and bake me a cake with the words "you're getting a ticket" on it; I won't argue getting a ticket for something I should know not to do ....but for other IRRELAVANT reasons, don't.

I'm driving down I-10 today on my way to school. I'm driving on the far left lane (the fast lane). I notice up ahead there is a cop that had already pulled someone over. Prior to the approach, I notice a cop is driving behind me, so I tone the speed down a few notches and even cruise at 57mph on the 60mph Limit. Well, the lights on the constable behind me still managed to turn on. I see some fat ass blonde lady pointing at me to pull over, so I did as told.

She gets out and says "the reason I pulled you over was because you failed to avoid passing an emergency vehicle". I'm like "oh really? and what exacrtly do you mean?". She went on by saying that in late January of 2007, they passed a law that says that due to the growing number the deaths of officers getting hit by oncoming traffic and people intentionally trying to kill police by running them over, the Texas Legislature's latest and greatest law says that no vehicle shall pass up any emergency vehicle while it is stationed with another vehicle. In other words, if you see a fucking cop giving someone else a ticket, don't pass the f*cker up. Hop your ass on the next lane over because your ass....will get....a ticket.

Not only did I NOT KNOW about this shit. As soon as the bitch walks out of her car to mine, a silverado passes us up as well while ANOTHER cop pulls him over. Smells like a scam campaign to me. Let alone the fact that she sent my ass to the NOT-NEARBY court.....she signs off on a court that is about 35 miles from my place, when there's one maybe 10 minutes walking distance. What a bitch.

Unfortunately I'm not a ticket virgin anymore. The only thing here is, I don't know what to do. Some people tell me to go take the defensive driving course, others have said that I am no teligible in this case. Either way, I'm looking at $160 for the ticket PLUS a bad ass $110 DSC (wtf is DSC) charge.

DONT PASS A FUCKING COP. Even if you're going the speed limit, YOU WILL GET RAPED. It DOES NOT matter what you drive, or what you're doing when you drive. You COULD BE smoking crack in the car and STILL GET BUSTED FOR PASSING A COP!!!

You should of called her a cunt.

not sure about there, but there are highway signs here telling you to slow down or move to another lane for emergency vehicles

Haha, wow sorry to hear bro... Actually I knew about this law already, I remember when it was put in place. However there is a bit more to it, you can pass but you do have to slow down I believe to between 30-40mph but don't quote me on that look it up first... You have to consider there are highways with only one lane on each side and the fact that sometimes you may not be able to change lanes...

Being you're first ticket you SHOULD be able to do defensive driving, again, don't quote me on that. Also being that there were more than two squad cars involved in this incident you may wish to consult an attorney on the likelyness you could pass this off as entrapment in court, all things considered you need to know how you intend to proceed before you show up at jp court...

Just called them. They don't guarantee it but she said that's their goal.

and if I'm not mistaken, I think I did hear her say "AND you failed to slow down under 60mph"...which makes me wonder about "slow down" or "get over"

Oh well....I hope $100 takes care of this bullshit. I really think it's ridiculous, this damn law they passed. I think it's obvious that most Americans know that killing ANYBODY in general is improper. That doesn't mean you have to ticket every fucking human being that passes a cop car.

Agreed. I can't believe people actually try to run cops off the road and shit.. I'm crazy but.. not that crazy lol

part of being a citizen of the US is knowing and understanding the laws. things like this can be avoided if you were a little more diligent in keeping up with all the ways the government tries to fuck you...in the ass....sans lube.

Personally I do think it's a douche law, the only time I've ever even seen this law put to practice was once when I was pulled off on the side of the road the trooper handed the ticket over to the driver (i believe it was a trailer plates violation) and another vehicle on the highway passed by obviously without even reducing speed. Mind you he came no-where close to hitting us or the trooper. The trooper turned and looked at the vehicle barreling away, then said "well I guess I'll go get him" and ran to his car... lol

Hold off on the lawyer just yet:


This is the route I've usually taken on tickets.

1. Show up to court and plea not guilty and request trial by jury...they will then reset the court date to 3-6 months down the road.
2. Show up to court again, and sometimes they ask if you wish to change your plea..dont. Or it could be the actual trial date.

Now... if its the actual trial date, you dont necessarily need the lawyer then. There is a big chance that the cop will not show, even though the court will make you believe that they always will.

If the cop shows up, you can reset the court date to hire an attorney, and thats when you call David Sprecher.

One of two outcomes:
a. the cop doesnt show and you get your ticket dismissed free of charge (if you hold off on getting a lawyer)
b. The cop shows...but doesn't want to go up against Sprecher (lol)..

Either way, my cases have never gone to trial. Hope this helps.

Eh? Not getting it dude...

Why would I wanna go to trial though? For one, that's going to cost more than 300 balls, and 300 balls is approx. the total amount for the fines. On the other hand, if I lose $100 then fine, no problem, but I do not want to go to a trial. The last time I was at a trial, I was facing a little than just fines.

School and time are of the essence as well. I cannot miss class this semester whatsoever. I'm already shitting bricks as it is missing out on the day of the court....whenever that is.

What I am trying to say, is if you contest the ticket, and it gets dismissed, you don't pay anything.

With your classes n whatnot I'd go ahead and hire the attorney since you dont have the time to sit in court. I recommended him because unlike the other people in the courtroom that seemed to be getting screwed over by theirs, Sprecher had the case dismissed when the opposition found out who was representing me, lol.
