Unhappy [Darker Trance/Prog] OrgaNik - It Never Sleeps [Full 320]

Hi there,
here's a track I finished some time ago but I've been sitting on it for a while for several reasons... but I thought I'd put it up here since things don't seem to be working out.

This is a slower trance/prog thing with some interesting atmospheres and some breaks for a good measure. If you've followed what I've been doing you might have an idea... or maybe not. Speed it up and you can probably use it in a harder set too.

OrgaNik - It Never Sleeps (8:00, 320 kbps)

That's all for now.

Nice track. That little band-pass (I think) riff that starts early reminds me of Tilt for some reason. Love that acidish sound in the second half. I kind of wanted the track to break into all-out acid madness toward the end but I kinda doubt that would have suited the mood you wanted to create here.

Great track! Some really nice soundscapes! Quality is very nice too!

I would like to make a harder mix of this with some proper acid madness - I've just never done any "proper" acidy stuff apart from the odd riff so I don't know how it would turn out.

Arrangement of the track is very cool. Progresses very nicely. Not sure if it sounds a little too busy at times though with certain elements getting lost.

Breakdown is great as is the breaks drumloop during the breakdown.

Main section after the breakdown when it builds to its climax sounds great.

Overall, apart from the at times "cluttered" feel, a very good tune

This definately has an older sound to it, which I love. The tilt comment is spot on. Great work as ever bro. Man you really should push yourself more. Something I know I should do myself so I shouldnt judge lol.

Anyway bass and melody at start is nice, and the distortion used on the melody. Great production dude

I feel like I'm getting back into the game now. I just finished a remix in a similar style, plus I've got some dark ambient and possibly industrial projects going on with a friend.

listening on crapy headphones at work:

nice start with the fxs and percs. the bassline and the acidline adds an oldschool feel. good melodies in the break, nice synth work.

good track, sounds good!

thanks for sharing.

I noticed a little clattering business, towards the beginning. It sounded like some parts were just a smidge out of sync. It had a weird vibe to it, though, almost like it was an intentional subtlety.

Definitely a nice break-beat.

Musically, it's a very somber piece. I love the layers going on last third of the tune. It gets busy, again, but I didn't notice the "out of sync" vibe, there.

The mix, so far as being able to hear everything, clearly, is utterly flawless. Very well balanced with some depth to it, as well. I might experiment with some of the spacing, on this song, if it were mine, but really, where you had everything sounded like you had a purpose for it.

That little sound in the background, I presume?

The rhythmic chord progression beginning at around :55, when the filter starts opening up, I think. It sounds a bit like the decay/release of the filter envelope was cutting off at the back of each note causing a fluctuation in the pitch and that effect wasn't precisely lined up rhythmically with the rest of the elements. There seemed to be some variation in its occurrence, however, so it's hard to nail down.

If you have a second track synchronized with the chord progression there seemed to be a neat little panning artifact going on - but a very small noise. Otherwise it may be an oscillator that's creating the panning noise, in conjunction with an ASDR controlled filter closing.

Regardless of the sound, as soon as you get done with the final pitch bend in that progression, the clattering goes away. If you want to be rid of it, you might try adjusting the note length and/or toying with the filter envelope, so that it's not as pronounced. I'd go with note-length, first, making certain that they are only one or two beats long, since the ADSR seemed dependent on the length of each note.

For what it's worth, I liked the sound. It was the timing that I noticed was a bit off. If it doesn't have to do with the note length - or you've already made them uniform - then I'm not sure what could be going on.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: I just remembered I also set all of my velocities to 64 - unless a variable velocity is called for. A filter controlled by velocity might (also) be the cause of the gremlin.

Now I'm not even sure what you've been listening to... there's no pitch bend there

It took a while to notice new OrgaNiK-track. I wonder why. Especially since I am huge fan of Al Azar-stuff and Reaper. Well now I'm downloading this one...

I like it.

It has a real subtle but sinister vibe about it. well produced and good to hear one of your trademark breakbeats in there as well!

Sorry about that - it's the "degradation" of the pitch/definition - it sounded like it had been warped, in some way, through either use of a pitch-bend or some other effect, like bit-crushing/spectral-transforming.

Here's a clip containing the effect I was referring to.

Regardless, it's a great song.

Heh, nice one

I'm actually looking for a harder/upbeat mix of this. I might do it myself too but if anyone's interested just let me know.

Brilliant. Great work on the melody.
