Yeah I think Dj vinyl emulations like serato will be here for a while mostly because people still like to use turntables.

Robots. Every job will eventually be replaced by sentient robots, so that humans can make the final step of our evolution into bloated, fleshy sacs of fat and preservatives that serve only to house and nourish our overdeveloped simian brains; the only part of our meaty existance that defines our conciousness.

Or DVS's... who knows.

CDJs, TTs, and DVS systems are doomed. MIDI and live PAs will take over. Beatmatching isn't necessary anymore, for better or worse.

We will always have vinyl. But the digital side of things (CDs) will be a dead format in the next 5 years. Same fate awaits DVD/Blu-Ray. Everything will go to hard drives and downloads.

Djs and true music connoisseurs will never let companies stop producing vinyl versions though.

I certainly don't hope so. I personally rather spend hours burning as opposed to using time coded cd's. So much easier and less distracting, IMHO.

It doesn't matter.

Posted by boris_the_bear on Feb-27-2009 22:32:

it matters a whole fucking lot. the fate of the universe!

whats wrong with laptops, other than that theres no skill involved because they beat-match for you?
doesnt that only help you to control the flow of your set better since u save time ud otherwise spend beatmatching?

No. Beatmatching is the easiest part of DJing. It shouldnt take too long in the first place.

There will be evolutions to DJing, but nothing is going to be phased out.

Posted by Leniu on Feb-28-2009 07:09:

By 'skill' i basically meant the craftsmanship of using ur ears to cue and beatmatch correctly, theres obviosuly much more to DJing than just that, which actually is my very point.... Why hate on laptop DJs?
a laptop can emulate exactly what a cdj or tt does and can do much more than just that, so if anything they only open new opporutnities for DJs, why the constant ridicule?
