Toronto Tourist: Best party of the summer ?

Hi,
My name is Manu and I live in Belgium.
I will spend 2 weeks in Canada this summer,
Please can you give me the weeks with the best parties of the summer ?
I like trance and would like to discover the guvernment, boat parties, beach parties & the Toronto nightlife.
I thought of last week of June & first of July to get the Canada day parties + 2 weekends, what do u think of it ?
I will spend 1 week in Toronto & 1 week in Montreal.

the beach parties and boat parties are usually house/tech and not trance. Same with guvs big Canada day party. Our long weekends are usually the best - may 24 weekend, Canada day weekend, first weekend in august, and probably the biggest is labour day weekend (last weekend in august)

House is much more popular here in Toronto but when guv throws a trance party it's always amazing. Labour day weekend is your best bet

It is the first weekend in September this year. Labour day is always the first Monday in September.

I would say Canada Day holiday as well.

Next to Hallowe'en my Favourite party holiday.....

The Guvernment is a must, the rest are pleasant enhancements.

oh yeah... i forgot this parties isnt on the weekend.

last year was a tuesday... But it doesnt matter since you get the day off.

I would recommend the Beats, Breaks, and Culture festival that happens within the first 2 weeks of July here

So very true. Canada Day is quite an epic day. Can't wait for this year.

Hopefully Lawler doesn't get booked again though, or I'll just skip out on it and do the day parties.

it's funny, the best Canada Day parties I've experienced have been outside of Canada! it seems as if expats and travelers from here are far more inclined to 'let loose' when celebrating elsewhere......

It's a neat event, but far from being "Best party of the summer", if it was something on the scale of Mutek, I'd be inclined to agree.

I always head down to check it out, but have yet have a really-great time at it. But, being free / local / a short walk, hard to complain - but not worth traveling from afar for.

Surprised that no one has mentioned Pride yet, gay or straight it's a great time, especially if your willing to put music-snobbery aside. The music rarely falls into the stuff that I normally listen to, but always have a blast.

andrea and i do pride every year and always have an amazing time! canada day is only 3 days after pride so you could do both. thats going to be a crazy week

Pride WAS good when they used to have the street party on the Sunday but now it's just lame.

The cash grab of putting the party in the beer garden has ruined the vibe/fun of Pride for me.

I think i will be in Toronto from fri june 26th for 1 week for that weekend and Canada day and i will spend the next week in Montreal
I will attend the Canada Day boat party & guvernment but what's better on sunday after noon cherry beach or sunset session ?
If you know about other parties (in Montreal included), please let me know
Would be great to meet some CATA because I will maybe get my permanent residency

True, pushing it all into the beer gardens on the last day has put a damper on the vibe a bit, but I still had a good time last year. Although, the year before I skipped out - was at a house party, left to goto the beer garden, saw how massive the line was then just kept on walking home.

Definitely Canada Day. There's lots going on (night parties/day parties) and it's right in the middle of the summer, so the weather's always nice!
