Hypnotic, Melodic & Downright Trippy (Prog Fans U Need This!!)

Hey guys,

Here is my attempt at a 2-hour long progressive house set. Only this is, this is not quite progressive house, but it's damn well close. Actually, the artists here are more known for their work on techno and deep house productions, but these are some of the more recent track they've made which are very progressive house-like.

The reason I recommend this to prog fans is that this is quite melodic, but the track list may not be very familiar to many of you, who I see listen more to stuff by guys like Daniel Portman, Patch Park, Jaytech, Alex Morph, etc...

Be advised that the mixing is not professional, but it works and at times very, very well. And the track selection, IMO, is really good. So give this a chance, and let me know what you think! I'm actually gonna post more details about the mix later, but I gotta run!!

Awesome Adam, will grab it. You included some tracks I picked up on my last Beatport shopping spree, LOL.

Desierto and Nightscape are pure quality.

I'll give it a shot.

Sounds good guys. Let me know what you think.

I wanted to add a little something. Not to sound cheesy or anything, but for a long time now I've been searching for a certain sound. I like progressive house but at times it can be kinda over the top and producers of the genre seem to use the same stuff a lot. I also like deep house a lot, but again, I find that many of the same sounds are used a lot. I've started noticing producers like Daniel Solar, Marc Poppcke, Alex Niggeman, Solomun, David K and Will Saul, among others whom I didn't necessarily have the chance to include here. Oddly enough, when I do my Beatport browsing, most of these guys' stuff is classified as tech house, though I don't really think that classification is appropriate. In other words, it's been a little hard for me to find this kind of stuff, that blends everything from progressive, deep and tech house, yet can be classified as any of them.

So anyway, this is the sound I really like. I think guys like Sasha and Hernan Cattaneo are playing stuff like this these days, I'm not sure, but I heard a few more recent sets by them and I really liked the stuff they were playing. Quality music. This is what this set I suppose is meant to be about. Hope you enjoy.

p.s. Oscar guess who I'm going to see tomorrow.........Tiger Stripes

Tuning in now, I really, really liked your opener. It works perfectly to set the mood for the rest of the set.

I really liked the whole groove throughout the whole set, it was a perfect balance between deep, sexy house and tech house. Very nice track selection Adam, you have very good taste

I thought this particular string of tracks was fucking brilliant!

As for the technical aspects, I thought your mixing was good for the most part. I noticed some minor errors on a few transitions (the mixes into "Nightscape" and "Eiszauber") and a more noticeable one on the mix out of "Magnetic Rain" but nothing too tragic and you absolutely make up for it with your top notch track selection. We all have slip-ups here and there

To sum up...I loved this. Great track selection and perfect balance between deep, sexy, dark, and techy. I only heard "Ras El Hanout" before this, but this is already my favorite mix of yours. Looking forward to more mixes like this one in the future

Hey thanks for the comments Oscar, great to read what you had to say. Yea I gotta be honest, I downed 4 beers while mixing this so I realized eventually that some things didn't necessarily sound as good as I thought they did And aside from a few transitions I had in mind it was mostly improvised.

You know it takes time to build a good set, and I am always struggling to decide what kind of edm to focus my time on, choices usually being either deep/progressive house or minimal/tech house. I really enjoy listening to the former, but I find that I can create much more dynamic mixes with the latter. So it's always hard to decide between the two. but to be honest I always felt that creating a good set of the former is more rewarding, and that I gotta spend some more time working at that.

Also, check out the label Meerestief if you haven't yet
