Hot Chip covers Joy Division
Hot Chip's cover of Joy Division's Transmission. I fucking love Joy Division and I think this cover is awesome. Hot Chip has really "grown up" over their past few releases. Thoughts?
never liked hot chip , and live there absolutly awfull. But treading on joy division's toes needs something special. But overall not impressed really.
hot chip are hit and miss. this is decent - as far as covers go.

Reminds me of Talking Heads more than Joy Division, which i guess is good because the pure energy of the original Transmission can't be matched (Transmission is probably my favorite Joy Division song). Still, this fails to excite me.
i don't like it.

we agree to disagree
it's not a tune to cover in the first place. but one is going to pull something out of their ass and do that. then i say this is pretty fair.
hot chip is the epitome of hipsterdom.
This is an okish "playful" cover but it takes all the brooding energy of the original away, resulting in a terrible outcome, at least from a comparison-point of view. Meh.
It reminds me of those senior coconut Kraftwerk covers lol
This actually is good because it has a latin passionate twist!
i like senor coconut, but it's entirely different.
I reckon this cover is pants.
The original has so much energy, to me this is just really slow and boring.
Not feeling this.Blasphemy.
I rather like it. In fact, I reckon it's better than anything on their album, and I rather liked that too.
this has grown on me quite a bit.
im a pretty big hot chip fan and have to disagree with whoever said they are terrible live. I saw them in DC at the 930 club last fall and they put on a great show.
Their new EP with Robert Wyatt and Geese doing remixes of tracks off Made in the Dark is pretty awesome too. Check out the One Pure Thought remix after you've listened to the original.
