MLB: Testing for steroid use

Im not a big baseball fan, but i read an article the other day regarding the use of steroids in baseball. Personally i think there should be testing, to make the game as pure as possible. I remember not too long ago baseball players for the most part looked like average men, no they look more like football players!!!! I find it hard to believe for the years Barry Bonds has been in the league, it has taken him to get to his mid 30's to set the record for most homeruns in a season!?!?! Is this odd to other people as well??

i'm pretty confident that barry bonds uses steroids. how does someone, who averages about 30-40 hr in his entire career, hits 49 in 2000 to set a career high and smash it with 73 the next?

baseball is a joke now. they try to kill off 2 teams and fail. the expos don't even have an owner. bud selig should be canned. he has turn this sport into the laughing stock of north america.

I agree with you totally.
And look at the two teams they try and kill off?!?!?

Both are overachieving teams of the past two years who just need better management. The game sucks cause its WAY too slow. A way they can speed up the game i think is having a pitch clock, like the pitcher has 20 seconds to deliver the next pitch or he is charged a ball. And a pitcher can only attempt one pick off move per batter. I think the game would probebly move a lot more fluently with these two rules. Oh and the steroid thing......i bet over half the players are doin it.

at steriods in all of baseball: of course it should be tested, we know or at least are pretty sure that many people use them. Furthermore the pros say there arent using them and dont need to be tested. But if there clean, why dont they go out and prove it
At Barry Bonds homers: Being incredibly strong wont gaurentee homers. Swinging a bat effectivly is a lot harder than it looks. If you took some guy from a body building contest, he might not be able to hit a single homer. Barry Bonds has a lot of skill as well as muscle. If he is on steriods its not the biggest reason he hit 73 homers

i agree that homeruns are more of a product from a good swing but with muscle it helps a lot. normal pop ups turn into homeruns because of the extra strength you get from bigger muscles. this is what the announcers call "muscling the ball out of the ballpark." according to canseco, more than 80% of the players are using some form of illegal substance to help them gain muscle.

techno addict, those are some nice ideas but i doubt it will happen. baseball is so slow in terms of growth. they hardly ever accept new ideas into the league. the last change that i know of is interleague play. while i think its great for the game, many people still think it should be AL vs AL and NL vs NL until the series.

Of course muscle helps alot. I guess I wasnt clear but I meant to say that it has more to do with his technique. But that extra strengh doesnt always or even often turn a pop up into a home run if you dont have proper form. @Canseco that guys just a nut, whats this about being bullied out of baseball. The only reason he couldnt find a job is because his average was under .200 and slipping. Also other pro's responses to the question "how many people use steriods" anwsers range from around 50 percent, to no more than 30 percen. Besides cansecos the highest estimate I remember hearing was 65%. And I think thats way to high because I doubt any of the pitchers(who make up more than a third of all mlb players) use steriods.
