Ace mix.

He was immense at the House Of God birthday. Dark and hard in a warehouse with loads of the usual brummy techno people, perfect night.

Damn, just listened again.

This set is really "rave-esque" but it's still so interesting, I love that he can pull that off.

I know next to nothing of Surgeon though, Beatport hunting has thrown some of his catalog into my cart for sure. Anyone got any recommendations regarding him? Other sets perhaps.

Thanks a lot Chesco! Yeah... he seems like he plays some pretty in your face stuff, I really dig it though. I think seeing him live would be quite the experience.

Seen both him by himself and with british murder boys as well. An experience is one way of describing it.

From the set description:

This set was recorded at Room 237's night at Wire, a small basement club in Leeds on 13/2/09. The sound was just right for the space, loud and punchy, with strong bass where you needed it.

This is the first set I've recorded using a new technique which combines the direct recording with a binaural microphone recording to give a much better sense of the sound as it was when I played this set.

I think it certainly succeeds brilliantly in tha regard, and makes it much more fun to listen to.

It really does inject a greater sense of authenticity to its 'live set' status, and the atmosphere it creates gives it a significant advantage over most other live sets.

sometimes it sounds like this guy was involved:

then again, the overall recording is pretty rough so a listener cant really take advantage of the subtleties
