The New York Yankees Thread 09 Edition

Spring training has started, so let's get this thread started. New stadium, new line-up, and first full season officially under the new owner, Hank. Lots to discuss, we could probably have our own A-Rod thread between his steroid use and new hip injury. Apparently, now he isn't having surgery ( http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news...t=.jsp&c_id=nyy ). But let's get the thread started with predictions on this upcoming year or things you would like to see. I predict possibly a 98 win season and winning the AL East. With their talent, nothing less should be acceptable. I also think if they don't win the world series Girardi could be gone. I'd also like to see Joba back in the bullpen where he belongs and Phil Hughes get his act together and handle the role of the 5th starter. But we can't always get everything we wish for and the play the games for a reason. So here's looking forward to the upcoming season.
Discuss....
Can't wait for the season to start but unfortunately I won't be seeing any baseball until I get back from training in late August. Hopefully by which time the Yankees will have the AL East in the bag. Lets go Yankees.
Love the graphic in your post btw. I feel like another Yankees tattoo coming on..
Lets go PHILS!!!!!!!!!......Mets will always suck
this is going to be a great season! would love to catch a Yankees ball game this summer.
I think you guys are optimistic. I think the Yanks will be ~500, maybe just over and will not make the playoffs, particularly if ARod is out for the first two months.
So the postseason has begun, watching the game now. Any predictions, observations, comments, etc. I'm going with a Yankees vs. Cardinals World Series with the Yanks winning in 6.

great game last night
jeter...wat more can you say about the man that has not been said already, he is a true leader and a true yankee
glad to see a-rod become clutch in the post season instead of chokeing
pitching was pretty good, i like the set up of phil hughes to jaba
both of them are better in releif imo to set up for mariano
if yankees keep playing like they have been playing then you can expect another ring and parade

it took me back to the days of the dynasty yankee's from like 96 threw 01
when it would be a close game and every pitch thrown you would be on your toes in excitment
and with that yankee magic between a-rods 2 run BOMB!!!!
then some great plays in the field then the walkoff home run at the end
deff brought me back ahhhhh LETS GO YANKEE'S!!!!!!

6 runs in the 7th to take the lead! That's the great thing about this team, i don't car if we are down 10 in the 9th, we still have a chance to win

Vasquez but we lose the milk man.
Granderson CF, Swish RF, no Johnny D signed and a utility Gardner leaves us with a sub-par outfield throwing ability and a potential 4 starter. That relieves our pen situation since it moves Joba and Hughes into the MO combo, add in a lefty like Marte and the ability to have solid 4 starters with a solid 4-5 man mid-relief to close roster and I think we're solid on the throwing arm front.
Still need to fill that LF gap if Nick Johnson is gonna hug the DH spot.
