Daft Punk scores "Tron" soundtrack
NEW YORK (Billboard) Daft Punk, the French electronica duo known for their robot personas, will compose the score for "TR2N," Walt Disney Pictures' update of its 1982 science fiction classic "Tron."
The film, currently in production, is tentatively scheduled for a 2011 release.
The "TR2N" score marks Daft Punk's first foray into the studio since 2005's "Human After All." After an extended hiatus, the duo reemerged in 2007 for an extensive world tour, spawning the Grammy-wining live set "Alive 2007." The group's 2001 track "Harder Better Faster Stronger" was adapted by Kanye West for his single "Stronger," and the pair appeared at the 2008 Grammy Awards with the rapper.
The musicians, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, split their time between Paris and Los Angeles, where they have assembled a new recording studio for the TR2N project.
Daft Punk have worked in film before, most notably as directors of their feature "Electroma," although that film used none of the group's own music.
The original "Tron," which pioneered the use of computer graphics, was scored by Wendy Carlos, an electronic musician and composer whose "Switched on Bach" album was one of the first to highlight the Moog synthesizer as a musical instrument.
neat!
I hope this isn't the album they are working on right now...

interesting. I was expecting much more of a dancey vibe but they took a "john williams with some synths" route and seem to be making an actual film score. Its cool to see them branching out like this.
I read in an interview that they were making tracks for the background music of the film.
There are 2 tracks floating around in low quality that are from daft punk (actual tracks not background music), idk if they will be on the soundtrack or their personal album. Either way they sound SICK! They just need to be mastered, who ever leaked em leaked 2 unfinished edits.
Also, I saw the Daft Punk figures and the bike today at Comic Con. The highlight of the day besides getting Stan Lee's signature for Luke lol

They worked on the soundtrack for 2 years. From my understanding, all music is by them - and the sound effect team worked with them as well.
There are 6 tracks leaked out already - though most in loop form from online game and trailers. Cant wait. Also, expect a Tron Tour with Tron production somehow in the show.
The main theme from the trailer is so fucking hot. Had no clue Daft Punk was doing it.
can't wait for the soundtrack
I wanna hear the leaked tracks, someone post them or PM them to me.

NEW Robit music
3 confirmed fake - 6 others have not been.
I was so pumped up about this sequel since december of '09. no one seemed to give a shit then. lol.
and I was very pumped up about daft punk in '97... no one gave a shit about them either. lol.
i guess i'm just ahead of my time.
Disney had a make-shift Flynn's Arcade at Comic-Con. There was a path you walked through to get inside the computer and you ended up in this awesome club-esque room. I want a real club with this type of setup! It looked way more awesome than the impression you prob get from this video.
Im not a daft punk fan at all really but I am excited to see more electronic producers being involved with scores and orchestras. Should be different than the Williams/Zimmer approach - though those two are bad ass.
Disney's California Adventure is redoing Glow Fest into ElecTRONica! Yeap! TRON is coming to DCA this fall and they're even building the famous TRON arcade!
DOUBLE NICE!!!!!
