Lost in Style - looking for feedback on this track...

Greetings,

My friend and I have been working on this vocal tune for some time now and while it's sorta coming together I'm no longer sure what genre we're in. We originally intended it to be electro but it inevitably evolved into something like.

In any case, we would love if folks here would take a listen and let us know what they think about the track, whether it works the way it is or if it would work better as a faster more energetic tune or a slower and emptier one? not really sure

here're the link for the track

Thanks in advance and looking fwd to comments

Nice! A little long in the starting, but overall I am feeling it, most definitely!

This is cool.

I thought the kick could use a little finesse, coming into the mix - it sounded a little awkward, until it came in, fully.

Her vocals have a bit of a thin presence, in the mix. You might try making a back-mask for her track.

She sounds just a touch nasal and unsupported, like she wasn't very confident in her performance. It definitely didn't sound like she was singing outside of her range. She just really didn't own the mix like I thought she ought to. What I mean by that is that it sounded more like she was trying to fit in with the rest of the instrumentation than she was thinking of herself as the most important instrument in the track - and in vocal tracks, IMO, the vocalist is ALWAYS the most important instrument.

The other instruments kind of upstaged her, in the mix.

It's a good proof-of-concept. I'm looking forward to future versions.

Thanks for the comments, guys! Much appreciated...

We actually have another vocalist coming in to do the part, so I'll be sure to keep your suggestions in mind...and will post the results later.

Thanks again!

I agree with this.
