Favorite Sample Packs besides Vengeance?

I'm thinking about picking up the Thomas Penton series. Heard nothing but good things about it. Anything else out there that is good and isn't Vengeance? I'm looking for a strong collection of one shots. Not interested in loops.

I'm pretty sure this has been talked about before.

Xfer isnt bad, the samples sounds great but i find them too big sounding.

What about random shit? Like backing vocals, hums, off the wall sounds like a wicked laugh or a scary jingling of bells or a kid saying "you will die" (im being very general here)...

i swear there is some underground sampling going around that people are keeping hush about

i know what you mean. but these days i prefer to use only a small amount of nice samples which sounds fat instead of tons of layered sounds.

I tend to think that the sample packs are nothing good...I'd just get lost in thousands of samples deciding what to use...much better to keep a few good samples only...

wut? Loops are a producer's dream, you must use them.

Have been very impressed with Synthation's Producer series sample CDs lately. Check them out.

Loops are cool every now and again. They do take some of the fun out of producing and being creative. It's much more inspiring to come up with your own original drum loop.

Hey,

I bought the Vengeance series myself as well, but the fact that a lot of samples already have effects on them bothers me.

I released my own sample packs not so long ago, because I wanted to have dry, one-shot samples packs that could be of direct use to me. Check it out if you're interested!

+1 I got your bank, it's a quality set of sounds.

I've heard that the Sounds of Revolution - Club Revolution set is good also.

Yes,

These samples are very useful. Furthermore I recommend thomas penton

Posted by Lindo on Mar-12-2009 08:11:

Thomas Penton and Icones packs are the best I've heard.

That's to be short and simple. That answer it for ya?

Posted by dannib on Mar-12-2009 12:04:

Pentons samples were useless to me. Whats with the excessive limiting on every hit? It gives me no room to work on transients as there isn't none! They also sound pretty dated as well. loads of processed 909 style hits etc.

Posted by Lindo on Mar-12-2009 17:59:

they are pretty dated, just gotta transform it into something else. You're right on that there isn't much transients on them, but they're not there to sound like super punchy kicks (at least most of them). I just layered extra sounds on the beat to achieve the sound I wanted. But for me, they were the best and almost always my first choice of samples to go to.
