Expect a little bit of everything from James. The first two tracks on his site are his latest - I'll be honest, not exactly my cup of tea, but if I were to guess I'd say this was James expanding his sound to reach more of a commercial crowd (which obviously worked - featured on Radio 1, and Pete Tong has been hammering it lately).

Everyone I spoke to who saw him last time at Mod Club (unfortunately, the one Mod night I missed) - I heard nothing but rave reviews... even from the snobbiest of chin stroking club goers. He'll play anything from tech-house to prog, and everything in between.

I'm really looking forward to opening for him (just hope my health is in check by Saturday... I'm dying at home with a raging throat/chest infection that isn't letting up)

Thanks for the health update Button...could have done without that...

As far as Talk is concerned...I like the frist two tracks much more than the rest.....found the techy stuff really boring...

SO if you get any firm answers on what we should expect....post it here....otherwise, don't think I will take the chance!

I made those comments forgetting he actually just put out a new demo last month. lol

I should have just posted what Tara posted.

This will be a good indication I'm sure.

Well he is OPENING... so it does matter and relates. Many of us actually care.

(Get better Jeff... Im super pumped for your opening set. Everyone seems to be sick right now)

I think judging a DJ by his productions always leads to disappointment. So many DJs play sets that are nothing like the tracks they produce.

I really think that is an outrageous request. No one ever has a firm answer to this questions. You can see a Dj 2 nights in a row and hear two completely different sounds. But listen to his DJ mix... it is pretty recent and I would bet is the best indication of what to expect.

Posted by aflyonthewall on Mar-07-2009 20:50:

I don't think asking what "gendre" to expect is unrealistic....the tracks on his site are completely opposite....there are lots of party options each weekend and only so much money to go around in a tough economy...so why should a potential customer not expect to know what they are paying for? I want to make the best...most educated choice for me....

Posted by aflyonthewall on Mar-07-2009 20:52:

Oh, and as for Button's health...never said I did not care....just found his symtoms a bit graphic....could have done without that!

I didn't even mention the vile greenish hell fluid I've been hacking up every 10 minutes!

At Mod Club.. his set was progressive, but def. on the tech side of progressive. I'm not a huge fan of his productions, so i wouldn't go by that. He's just a DJ that knows what the fuck he's doing. He's sure to surprise anyone that hasn't seen him.....

I've never seen James Talk either, and quite honestly I'm looking forward to the fact that I don't know what to expect. He's apparently really talented and I'm anticipating that he'll bring something fresh to the table...

i just got around to listening to this (right now)...and WOW. I also just realized that '2 months off' is in it! Which is probably one of my fav. tracks of ALL time. Anyone who doesn't go to this is seriously stupid. U WILL REGRET IT. and u can hold me personally responsible if he sucks! because he won't...LOL
