MINIDISC electronica
hi does anyone know a site that sells edm on minidisc?
just got a new car and it only has minidisc in it.
previous owners minidiscs consist of J.LO, motown and... angelcity. great.
alternatively how do you make your own?
cheers.
Can't you record stuff onto (blank?) minidiscs as you would onto cassette tapes?
minidisc is a dead format as far music being released on it.
however, there are still minidisc players and you can still find blank minidisc cartridges if you look around.
sony's last versions of the md had a usbplug and also simplified the recording onto the cartridges. they used to call it net-md i think. the cartridges was either 60 or 80minutes and you could double & quadruple the length on the tapes with longplay which resulted in some compromise in aural quality.
look around on the web and you will find all of this
there are plenty of blank discs on amazon but no prerecorded stuff.
would this allow me to record my own tunes?

and what else would i need? i thought you needed a hifi with an optical cable
cheers!!
Dude! Get another car. You got scammed!
its a lightweight trackday spec C impreza. it doesnt come with a stereo. the previous owner had installed a minidisc. nothing wrong with MD if you can record your own, the quality is good and the discs are sturdy.

this looks like one you can record off your pc for a bit extra. 55 quid but. im only wanting it to record minidiscs for the car.
Just get another stereo man. $100 well worth it.
Go for a Sony MEX-BT3600U (Bluetooth / USB / AUX Handsfree CD Player) + eg 4 GB micro SD
Best deal looking at price/quality/features I think.

minidiscs are class. no need for tons of shite tunes you wont be listening to anyway. just a select few hand picked quality electronic tracks.
not every tune is suited to listening in a car.

'trance' isnt so good for the car.. not with heavy synth lines anyway.
techier stuff like...
nick sentience - digital dialogue
u2 - elevation (paul van dyk mix)
or even clubby, housey stuff like the first cd of pvds 'cream ibiza' works well. (second cd is garbage)
straight trance doesnt work well from my experience. sounds out of place and has too much high frequencies.
What the hell? You are a moron.
For the price of 5 minidiscs you could have a new car stereo that plays CDs or mp3s.
5 minidiscs cost around 6. dont know what shit stereo you have or what your smoking, but your way off. mines is a kenwood.
plus the fact there are already more MDs in the car than i'll ever need! and they are re-writable.
why would i want to burn cds (that scratch) when i just can drag and drop tracks to a MD?
as i said i hand-pick my tracks for the car, so its not just any old guff i stick on there - im not after quantity AT ALL. takes me ages to pick out 10 perfect tracks for driving. not interested in 50-track mp3 cds with mostly filler. you are just skipping most of them anyway - stupid and pointless!
just need a few quality minidiscs made up with suitable tracks and im sorted. a few scumfrog, a few picotto, a few hybrid tracks. not looking for 100's of tunes ill never play - its for car use only, moron!
