I actually hate them more.

It gives you the illusion of riches..

Posted by DeleteFromUsers on Mar-14-2009 20:33:

I try to make a special effort to pay for my drinks with change if I can. Towards the end of the night, figuring out which coins are worth what and how to make correct change can get time-intensive, but the effort is worth it.

Carrying your best friend home from the club (water bottle) is heavy enough - no need for excessive centage!

Posted by Vivid Boy on Mar-14-2009 20:35:

I usually save it for the rub n tizzor after the club. nothing like the sound of change in your pocket while getting hand blasted. the sound of change makes them work harder

They've got the right idea in most of Europe; prices advertised are with tax included, and it's rare to see the "x.99" marketing gimmick (does that really fool anyone anymore?).

I've gotten used to it though. I just keep a bunch of coin rolls at home, empty out all my change every few days except for a few loonies and toonies, and take it to the bank a couple of times a year.

well this thread is focused on those big heavy loonies and toonies u get back from servers at bars/clubs/whatever which u fail to use up cos bills are easier to pull out and end up wiht a heavy pocket going home..

about the whole + tax thing...dont even get me started...

I collect all of my change loonies and toonies included...

End of the year, I avg 750 bones for x'mas money...

Loonies you can roll up too.

Toonies, I'm not sure, probably not. But if we're talking about drinks at clubs then you should be using up your toonies, because almost every drink is just over $5. So you put down the $5, plus a toonie. Problem solved.

If you're really ending up with a ton of those then it's your fault, not the bar's.

or get a change jar going

Posted by Abercrombie on Mar-15-2009 04:10:

I keep a roll in my pocket so I'm always happy to see you.

Man! That reminds me how shocked I was at learning that all prices were as listed, INCLUDING TAX, when I went over to Ireland when I was around 15.

Man, that was so nice! Loved it. Within 2 days I think I was really wishing that it were as such back in Canada.

I assumed you actually had a wallet and that the change was built up over several days. If you really have $25 in coins at the end of a single night, and you didn't bring any with, then you need to start bringing fewer bills in the first place. Really, how much do you drink, and is it honestly SO hard to dig up a $2 coin instead of another $5 bill?

Good to know, although I find it's pretty easy to get rid of toonies; take 5, pay for lunch or a coin-op wash, and you're done.
