Because College Ball is played with more passion, heart, and pride. Professionals have no reason to play hard other than deciding the number of zeros that come on their next check. Sure, they're good. They're absurdly good. College Ball is better though.

Don't care about the brackets but I wanted to say GO BEARCATS!!!

They probably will lose tonight to Duke though.

Makes no sense. Players who play dont just play because of a pay-check. They love playing, its why they started in the begining.

Absolutely, they love to play basketball or they wouldn't be professionals. But the skill of the players exceed their desire to win. Watch the NCAA tournament, you will be hard pressed to find athletes who have more fire in their eyes than those guys. When the NBA Playoffs come around, then it starts to heat up, but everything is on the line for these schools. 65 teams in the tournament, every single one of them could potentially win the whole thing. Very interesting to watch, I suggest you watch it.

Last night the Heat and the Celtics went to overtime, and I swear, not a single person on the court (other than Kendrick Perkins) even cared. That's the kind of passion you can expect in the NBA. One month away from the playoffs, and two contenders don't really care about the outcome of a close game? That's something you don't see in college, where every game affects seeding and the chance of making the tourney. Only 65 out of 350 teams make the post-season in the NCAA - by comparison, 16 of the 32 NBA teams do. Given that there are 30 games in the college season and 85 in the NBA season, which games do you think matter most?

The incentivization of salary is also one of the worst things that ever happened to professional sports - it took the emphasis off of team and placed it on individual performance - because wins don't get dollars added on to your contract - points do. There's an incredible amount of talent in the NBA, but with a few exceptions (Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard), the focus is on making highlight reels and and individual stat lines.

NBA needs less playoff games. Seven is too many for me to pay complete attention.

North Carolina.

I took the day off work to watch games all day today, and thus far Butler is definitely disappointing.

butler is coming back.

the bigger issue is CSU Northridge keeping it somewhat close. hopefully memphis goes on a run soon.

Evans and Dozier sat most of the first half (foul trouble) - Memphis should kick it into gear in the second half I would think.

Ok, now this Butler game is getting really good.

God I love March.

Posted by denys envy on Mar-19-2009 17:51:

Looks like BYU will be my first wrong pick...

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Mar-19-2009 17:58:

I might get all of these wrong (picked Butler, Memphis, BYU) - Memphis is actually down now.

Posted by mezzir on Mar-19-2009 17:59:

God damn this memphis game is NOT the one I expected to watch. If anyone hasn't tried it yet, cbssports uses microsoft silverlight to stream every game live through explorer. Ads just like on tv, quality is as good as your internet can buffer
