Resident Evil 5
So I'm a huge Fan of the resident evil series in fact its my fav games of all time and I have been waiting for RE5 to come out for over a year and I have to say Im very disappointed in the direction that capcom took the game. This paragraph from game spot describes what they did pretty well :
"Thirteen years ago, Capcom helped revolutionize the action-adventure world with Resident Evil, a game that would define an entirely new genre dubbed "survival horror." In the years that followed, the series continued to build upon the standards set by the first game, until 2005, when Resident Evil 4 radically departed from its predecessors and broke new ground as a more action-oriented game. Resident Evil 5, the latest offering in the long-running series, expands on the action-heavy formula of its forerunner and is built from the ground up to support cooperative game play. Though it can no longer be considered a survival horror game, Resident Evil 5 manages to retain and effectively translate the most important aspect of that genre--tension--into its new mechanics, crafting a fun, collaborative experience that will keep you on your toes the entire time."
Resident Evil was an awesome game series that was fun, scary and exiting and it involved some fun puzzles and item collection. Capcom turned it into your everyday action game that you shoot anything that moves with puzzles that are meant for a 10 year old.
Im so harsh on this game because the bar was set really high for this game along the lines it was to be the best game ever. It is a great game and it is fun .... for someone who is new to the series I think any veteran RE fan who has played this game since day one and has beaten all RE games on all systems will enjoy playing it but it's just not the same ...
played the demo where you could not move when you aimed...they changed that in the final version?
RE5 is so shit .... I DLed the demo and played it for 3 mins and it's over.
It's more of a "American" no brainer game.
MGS4 is the shit
I don't see what you guys are complaining about. The series has evolved.
I welcome the change.
Resident Evil 4 was awesome.
I was with the series since I read a review of it in 1996 and the game may have changed, but a lot stayed the same.
Anyone seen the RE1 video of the jap dude who beat it in 11mins without killing anyone? MY GOD!!!!!

Did you ever think the reason you aren't scared is you are older?
Resident Evil 4 came out in 2005, this one in 2009.
The game isn't scary, but even the jump from 1 to 2 people weren't complaining it wasn't scary even though 2 was a way better game.

I haven't really followed the series. I never played RE4 but watched a friend play through most of it, and just watching it built a great sense of tension.
Started to play RE5, mostly in co-op, and is the most fun I've had in a 2-player co-op experience on a console so far. While it may not have the 'scary' factor, it does a great job at building suspense and tension.
The demo really turned me off of the game and almost put it onto the 'meh, I'll pass - maybe rent it', but so far I'm glad that I purchased it.

RE4 was much scarier than 5 (I like how 5 isn't as scary because i'm a fradey-cat haha).
I really like the co-op in 5 though, it's done really well. I thought that not having the game 'pause' when you go into your briefcase was gonna be shit, but it's not that bad.
I hope it will come out for the wii some day... (playing with those controls is amazing... RE4 on wii FTW).
I guess the suuuuuuper long wait for 5 to come out made everyone's expectations rise even higher.. including mine.
But I'm still gona play it

Nope, still need to stop and aim - I don't mind it actually.
RE2 is one of my fave games of all time. Back in the day it was a huge reason why I moved away from N64 and bought a Playstation.
Was a huge RE fan when Code: Veronica came out (still the best "classic" RE in my opinion). REmake and Alpha were fucking awesome too. RE4 took the series to a whole new level though, and while it wasn't as scary (even though there were some moments that gave me the creeps) the overall action of the game was second to none.
I really wanna try RE5 but unless it comes out for PC I won't be playing any time soon.
(PS. Stop whining about the "you can't run and shoot at the same time. It's Resident Evil FFS. Not Halo
)

I bought it, and its still in the plastic. I'm gonna play it next week when my schedule is cleared up. I have a lot of expectations out of this game however, the tension part is what really makes the game worth while. The feeling that you have no ammo, cannot find a typerwriter and you health is almost gone make RE a good game. RE is very linear game in which you basically only have one path to follow. Although there are few outcomes out of doing or not doing things, the game is pretty much a platform 3rd person.
I hope the game is a lot of fun, graphically it looks incredible, but I really hope the storyline is good, as well as the horror factor. Play it in the dark at night and volume up, it makes a difference.
ahhh the countless high school nights smoking weed and playing RE
memories!
