92% chance of a 4.5 - 6.0 Earthquake in Los Angeles- Sunday, 3/29/09

Great! thanks. You tell me after I just fly back from LA for the weekend before I make the big move down next week. So I'm away from Michelle and baby Devin!

Thanks a lot!

I'm not buying it. That video is about the most ghetto quake prediction news I've ever seen.

Posted by djcami on Mar-27-2009 01:07:

is this for real?
wouldn't the news stations in LA be giving out warnings too then?

Too bad earthquakes are impossible to predict. lol, Internet!

Posted by Miss Julia on Mar-27-2009 01:13:

here is a link to their website

http://www.quakeprediction.com/

i dunno, whatever, I'm just sharing.

thanks Julia. we all know you care.

i feel something in the air and this time, it aint my bad gas. my buddy Tom always tells to get my shot gun ready

billy: "for what Tom?

tom: "for the RIOTS!"

now it makes sense.

Pure unsubstantiated BS. Just ask the USGS.

Title should rather read 92% chance quakeprediction.com (lol) will be wrong once again.

Having said the above. There is promising technology out of Japan that can sense the moments just before an earthquake and sound off an alarm (I guess kind of like before a tornado), but right now they can only trigger it about 30 seconds before the first P waves start to hit. I don't have any references off-hand, but you can google it.

Anyway, if you're a science fan like me, you'll notice that no one in the science community is talking about these bullshit 'predictions' because they are completely unsound and moronic. Notice the banner ads on that site. If anything, they are just trying to make some quick ad cash.

But do remember, a large quake will hit us in a matter of time. Always be prepared (multiple kits, plans, etc). At the very least, prepare to survive on your own without any assistance (and completely off the grid) for at least 72 hours per person.

These people have been constantly predicting high magnitude earthquakes that never happened.

not really.

(quoted from the other earthquake thread)

hardly related. that moron has a horrible track record and California sits between the 2 largest seismic plates on the planet, so it's not uncommon to have a 4.x quake often somewhere in the state. it's a no-brainer and as i have pointed out in the other thread, no one in the science community takes this guy seriously. look at his methods and technology. terrible.

Some animals can predict earthquake with better accuracy than that guy. These animals usually exhibit strange and abnormal behavior days prior to the earthquake sometimes even within minutes.
