Ricardo Villalobos 7 hour set @ Piknik Eletronic May 31st (Mutek)

Yea, yea there's an event listing forum, but whatever.

Why the fuck do the 2 biggest techno tickets of the year in this area have to be one right after the other?

Posted by DigDeep on Mar-27-2009 03:11:

Holy fuck

Posted by rabbitjoker on Mar-27-2009 03:13:

I think this may be more fun of a weekend (Montreal > Detroit any day of the week).

Posted by MKpacha on Mar-27-2009 03:19:

Posted by Endlesswave on Mar-27-2009 03:36:

I wanna do both

Piknic is wicked. but both are outdoors, with sick music. I wouldn't think about skipping DEMF just for this set though - Piknic is weather dependent and IMO loses a lot of its appeal once it is moved indoors.

Posted by kaniz on Mar-27-2009 12:23:

The newest Mutek lineup release has me leaning towards it over DEMF.

if you go to DEMF and buy a mutek pass (weekend is cheaper get the early bird tickets) VIA rail will give you a 50% discout on a train ticket from windsor to montreal.

you guys failed to mention that it is a tag team with Zip aka the Perlon label head. Zip is just as good as ricardo, and what they have in their bags makes me jealous.

worth the road-trip just to do the pikniks if you don't want to do the entire festival, and the pikniks tend to be cheap cover. Stay in a hostel, and you can do the best parts of Mutek for really little cash if you wanted to.

DAY 4 Saturday, May 30th

We begin with an eclectic afternoon spanning from the hypnotic dub-techno of Thomas Fehlmann to the uplifting tech-disco of The Mole, with Brendon Moeller and Trusme performing along the way.

Robert Henke and Christopher Bauder will present two more installments of ATOM.

In the early evening, Alva Noto, Ryoji Ikeda, AtomTM, and Byetone comprise a very special Raster-Noton showcase

Later that night, MUTEK and RESIDENT ADVISOR join forces to present Carl Craig, dOP, tobias., and Mathew Jonson vs Dandy Jack.

DAY 5 Sunday, May 31st

The final day starts off in the park with a very rare North American appearance by Ricardo Villalobos, who will be tagteaming on the decks for a marathon 7-hour DJ set with none other than Perlon founder and manager Zip.

As if this werent enough, Sunday night goes back inside for a closing event that is being billed as Canada night, featuring the highly anticipated return of Akufen, in his first live showcase of completely new material since 2004, followed by the impossibly talented live improvisation of Modern Deep Left Quartet. Stephen Beaupr will be on hand as well, and given the sheer number of other Canadians already in town, we can only add that a few surprise appearances may pop up through the night.

In addition to Ricardo/Zip, Carl Craig, dOP, tobias., and Mathew Jonson vs Dandy Jack play the night before!

Seriously considering the trip to MTL the weekend after!!

Posted by smellyblack on Mar-27-2009 16:54:
