This is going to kill Serato Scratch Live

500 bucks for SSL vs 349 bucks for TSD. What would you pick?

impressive

So it's just a cut down version of Pro at a cheaper price? Good move NI

saw traktor scratch fail on too many djs this week in miami
serato ftw

One drop of rain doesnt make a monsoon and all that.

Ive been using Pro for about 6 months now and its absolutely solid in the reliability stakes.

I'd have to agree, especially after the last update.

Most weekends i'l rock a 3-6 hour gig and i've never had it fail on me.

How exactly did it "fail" on them?

Im doing a good few club gigs every month with it as well. Including some right sweaty pits in the ground. *Fingers Crossed* Ive yet to have it go down once when using it in said clubs or anywhere else for that matter.

I believe I've seen Traktor Scratch die once. Konrad Black was using it and it just shat out at the very beginning of his set. There was some minor digitizing sounds leading up to it and then, bam, no sound at all. It took them a couple minutes to get it back up and running.

Posted by Ryan0751 on Mar-28-2009 22:20:

Yep, the latest Pro update (actually one came out the other day) is really stable.

(knock on wood, since I have a 5 hour club gig tonight).

Posted by limin_li on Mar-29-2009 00:09:

I think it is really depending on your OS. It seems like Serato Scratch Live is easy to use and Multi-OS friendly, but I would still prefer using any DVS with a macbook pro.

Posted by Ted Promo on Mar-29-2009 03:13:

Konrad was running it on a Macbook Pro.

Torq Conectiv Vinyl Pack for 250 bucks.

Posted by limin_li on Mar-29-2009 05:38:

uh no!

I would never buy a Torq system after the horror story I saw on this board any other boards.

I don't know what to say. Most people, in fact, don't have problems on the forums. The ones that do are the most vocal (rightfully so).

No he is not the only one, I have never had one crash with Torq. Torq and my macbook are bulletproof. I won't deny though people have had problems. Last I checked though the poll on the torq boards showed close to 90 percent of people were having little to no issues with it. I agree with MTM though, use what works for ya. I remember reading your posts on there though, I felt for you on how bad your conectiv was.

when i had torq previously it never failed on me...not to mention i was running it on an desktop that was about 4 years old at the time.

Yeah man. I run Torq on a 1.5 year old MBP and a 7 year old Dell Inspiron "maxed out" at 2 gigs of RAM and no problems here.

I hate traktor scratch pro, wait for the ableton + serato announcement at musik messe this week

Posted by Ryan0751 on Mar-30-2009 21:46:

I love Traktor Scratch Pro.

How about you try out the different apps, and make your own decision?

Options are good.

+1

i want to buy a external sound card to plug serato to ableton, but im waiting for their product before doing it. it would be a killer thing to have serato decks include in ableton

there is two thing traktor does and serato doesnt :

- effects
- 4 decks

they just cut off one of this thing ...

i guess serato has a patent on their wavform display, cause i still dont know why traktor still use monochrome wavform, that's pretty unreadable. People would say you have to know your tracks, but sometimes im going to my residency without had time to play some tracks, and with one look i know how the track is.

Posted by Max Thomson on Mar-30-2009 22:03:

even if they don't come out with the serato thing everyone is hoping for, you can still use deckadance as a vst inside ableton.

yeah i don't know what the hell the deal is.. fffuuuccckkk

i just hate having to eat my words, when i was all about torq BEFORE i actually used it. i've never had it crash, but it's literally unuseable for me. i'd record a sample if i wasn't so lazy

it wouldn't be so big of a deal if m-audio actually answered their tech support inquiries- i sent one yesterday and i've read about a ton of people who get no answers to their problems.
