DJ Vega - Dark Desires march 2009 [Pure Progressive House]

It's been a while since I posted a mix in this section, I know. It's not that I didn't make any mixes in the meantime, 'cause I did. None of them just felt right to put up here. After all these years of (mainly bedroom) dj'ing, I feel I'm beyond the point where every attempt at mixing should be judged by peers to be able to keep on improving myself. Don't get me wrong, self improvement will always remain a main goal while mixing, and I know there's still a lot of room for bettering myself. I'm nowhere near a perfect dj, so valuable and genuine input will always be greatly appreciated. But over time I've become pretty aware of my strenghts and weaknessess, and I'm not afraid to admit that not all mixes I make are up to my own high standards. So rather than flooding this forum with medoicre mixes - just because I made them and can post them - I want to share only the ones that I feel are a succes. Of course, my standards, preferences and mixing styles are not those of others, and it's perfectly possible that those others will judge and experience my mixes completely differently. I'm aware of that. But I always put a lot of effort into compiling, programming and mixing my sets, and sometimes I genuinly feel the end result is satisfying enough for me to stand the test of time. I think this is one of them, so I can't hold it back for you guys

The set itself is another chapter in my Dark Desires concept series, which is mainly about those oldskool progressive house sets with a deep feel, intricate and steady buildup and long, smooth transitions, that sound just as good in an underground club as blasting through your headphones. I can't seem to help it, but I always turn toward the melodic side of things at the end of this series' mixes. I guess it's just my trance roots that refuse to become extinct.

Excellent work again Jasper. There were a couple of tracks in the middle that weren't really to my taste, but they still worked well with the flow of the set, so no big deal at all.

Nice one

Lemme know if you want a proper host too.

Awesome set once again Jasper. I really like the dark aura that you always seem to instill to this series of "Dark Desires" sets. Although, this one was leaning a bit more towards Tech House, which resulted in a very good blending of genres.

As usual, track selection was superb and your programming and mixing were spot on.

Thanks Oscar. It's always nice to read that the feeling I wanted to put in this mix got across to the listeners. One could say you listened to it the correct way, just as the artist intended and wanted you to listen to it
